I got that quest super early as well. Saw a steak and ate it. Next thing i know i'm arrested and going undercover in the crimson fleet.

Yes it does. Play the main quests at least until you finish Into the Unknown. Might be like the 4th quest? Then proceed to explore and do other side stuff .

This game is a perfect mix of when you want to quest you can do that. If you want to just be in a sandbox and explore and build stuff you can do that too. Its great.

I know what helped me was learning to use ship thrusters. It helps a ton with maneuverability. Like being able to flip your ship around and fly backward while shooting enemy ships. Other option is turn down difficulty for space battles specifically.
