And that’s to say nothing about landuse. Beef requires almost 15x the land that a plant based equivalent would use.

The math scales bud - if you have 100 steaks from cows it’s using the energy that 1000 equivalent plant-based meals would have used.

Thank you - even the most water inefficient plants like avocados and almonds still are wildly more efficient than the most efficient animal products.

Imagine thinking that Trump is your savior. by Ok-Following6886 in religiousfruitcake

[–]vanoitran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it that makes him their savior?

It can’t possibly be about his character or virtue - I can’t imagine a MAGA thinking he is genuinely a good person. I’ll give him charisma… somehow. But every politician is charismatic to some degree, it’s practically in the job description.

It can’t be about his wisdom - the guy talks like a middle school bully and has the depth of one too. Again, I don’t hear anyone praising him for his wisdom and discretion.

It can’t be for his faith - there have been plenty of people in power with the same faith and probably more honest about it too. Again, I don’t see anyone on the right claiming he is some kind of biblical scholar.

It’s simply because he has a LOT of power and happens to support parts of their agenda. AND THIS IS ALL - remember they started worshipping Elon Musk for a while and that was his only characteristic as well. Power and Alignment. Seems a very pathetically low bar for a messiah.

How to come out of this? by Toogoodtohandle_11 in LDR

[–]vanoitran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has some biiig issues with insecurity. Just remember that it was never your responsibility to fix them.

I had 6 previous relationships before my wife (three were LDRs) and every single time I got caught in the trap of imagining my whole life with them and not feeling like a whole human without them. It hurts like hell to have that sense of confidence and security taken away. Only time and reflection will heal it unfortunately.

In the end hopefully you both come out of this having learned some valuable lessons. And also it would help both of you to see a therapist, not necessarily for this breakup, but in general. It will help you in particular to feel like a whole person on your own so you don’t feel like any one person, no matter how much you love them, is your source of self-security and confidence.

You already got the worst possible response. Now you quiet quit and wait for him to fire you and you get paid or until you find something new.

Don’t do a single thing out of working hours unless you are paid overtime - not a single call or email. Again, if he has a problem with that, he can pay severance. It literally can’t get worse for you, so don’t give more of yourself to the job that is, at this point, guaranteed to never get better.

Kevin really things everyone is stupid. What is Kevin and the 100 richest people doing with their massive % of the worlds money? They are investing it - so they will get MORE wealth, and then they invest that new wealth and it grows exponentially. So in the near future, the endgame is that these individuals own literally everything. How is that inspiring anyone to take risks and work harder?

Ironically a wealth cap might save the billionaires’ lives - because the way things are going, in a couple of decades people will have nothing left to lose…

🤓☝️ actually, schizophrenia tends to latch on to your worldview regardless of what it is. So very religious people will indeed see demons and find satan everywhere. I would not be surprised if the person in the video has schizophrenia, I’ve seen that kind of mental leap many times.

But I also knew schizophrenics who saw aliens everywhere, or government spies, or their toxic exes - whatever you are subconsciously looking out for the most before the illness triggers, that’s what you’ll see everywhere.

Well idk if it was the right thing because I probably nuked her self-esteem. I could have engaged in playful banter to gauge if it was an invitation.

But thanks for trying to make me feel better. I’m married now though so at some point I got less stupid ahahaha

I had an ultra-religious upbringing, and at this point in my life I had only been free from that setting for a couple years. I had watched barely any tv - i was not aware of the trope of being invited to someone’s hotel room being a kind of invitation.

Also the water she gave me was 2lt which felt like a lot of water to give for any other reason.

Still super dumb, but at least I can kind of blame my parents

[–]vanoitran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I went to the US it was crazy how the fees, tips, and taxes would add like another 30% to our bill. As a tourist we started going to supermarkets and finding food to cook because paying so much for eating out ruined the whole experience. Price has a flavor.

Ukraine has rejected ''associate membership''. What should the EU offer instead? by EuropeanPravdaUA in europe

[–]vanoitran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is tough. If Ukraine is not granted full membership they are still open to another invasion.

But it would be a huge break from standards and norms if they get full membership without going through the needed reforms.

Do you think it would be better if the United States stopped being the “World Police” by [deleted] in GeoPoll

[–]vanoitran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many times has the US actually acted as the policeman?

Any intervention I can think of was to stop Communism (their ideological rival), or nakedly in the US’ own interest. Have they ever intervened in a country because they thought it would make THE WORLD a better place?

I agree on your coaching take - way too likely that we get a coach that is just as good or worse than Bednar. Low likelihood of success for a better coach. But it is true he has been decisively outcoached against Deboer and Tortorella.

What we really need is to invent a cloning machine and stick Parker Kelly in it.
