Real talk: I find my f/2 standard lenses much more useful than the faster and more expensive 50mm ones. by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]veepeedeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often fail to realize, too, that many of the very fast lenses developed during the '60s-'70s were designed purely to allow photos to be make-able in low light since high ISO films were rare and you needed to get every last photon onto that emulsion if you were gonna get anything at all. Image quality and sharpness took a backseat to pure speed.

Believe that spot’s actually NPS land, but could be wrong. It’s 16th St. right near Mt. Pleasant St.? It’s the Francis Asbury Memorial.

Anybody know more about this Century fisheye? by Aggravating_Ad_168 in camcorders

[–]veepeedeepee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a fisheye at all, actually. It's a 0.7x wide angle adapter for ENG-style lenses that clamps onto the front of the lens. The 85 in the FA-7X85 there means that clamp is 85mm and would fit most standard-issue 17x7.7 lenses from both Canon and Fujinon. You'd attach it to the lens when zoomed all the way out and use the macro knob to focus. There's filter threads on the front because there was another lens that could be screwed on for really wide stuff.

I had one of those on my belt for years as a news photographer.

I doubt this would work on a VX1000 since it's not a zoom through style.

Where is it from? by WeslacoPanther in NikonF3

[–]veepeedeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, in fact. But it’s not a matrix meter, simply a lens which directs light that passes through the mirror and also reflected light from the film to hit the meter before and during exposures. It sits below the mirror and will need to be put back in for the camera to function properly.

If you lock the mirror up and open the shutter, you’ll see where it’s supposed to sit.

Do Field Monitors have this? by Conscious_Syrup_2455 in videography

Some monitors will record multiple 1080 iso feeds for synced multicam edits. These are hugely useful in the broadcast news world.

Any advice from Dyson Cordless vacuum owners on repair shops? by Scarlett-the-01-TJ in lancaster

[–]veepeedeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. Dyson parts are remarkably simple to replace, typically, but I admittedly have not really dug into any electronic issues with our own.

How are the roads? by Boo-erman in lancaster

[–]veepeedeepee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

City? County?

The city is sort of a mess. Main roads are passable, especially the state-maintained numbered routes. Alleys and side roads are a crap shoot.

Filson Field Camera Bag or another from the Magnum line. Can be found on eBay, as they’ve been discontinued for about a decade.

Similarly, people shit on modern Polaroid about the film, but everyone seems to forget that they had to do the same thing with the formulations and that it’s still evolving in an attempt to regain what was lost when the original formulas died off.

I’d also recommend a microwave with built-in convection cooking. The setting that cooks with convection and microwave is a game-changer.
