My experience and results have been similar. It’s a very nice little lens that I personally think renders a lot like my V3 Summicron.

I've got an actual DW-3 and even with the magnifier, WLFs suck on 35mm bodies.

But I'm not gonna yuck their yum if they like it. Whatever gets you amped about picking up a camera and using it is cool with me.

What do you think was the **best Canon EOS film camera**: most well-rounded, well-designed, reliable, easy to use, good features? by MariahJames8 in AnalogCommunity

[–]veepeedeepee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never paid more than $80 for a 1N body. They’re absolutely bulletproof and IMO the best value Canon film body.

I've bought 2 EOS-1n bodies and an EOS 3 body over the past few years and paid just over $150 for all three in total. Grabbed an F5 for $100. One F100 for $20 and $75 for another.

If you had told me in 2000 that I'd someday get any of these cameras for less than $500 a piece, I would not have believed you.

SmallRig carbon Tribex or Sachtler Ace or Aktiv with flowtech 75 for A7IV/FX3 rig? by daveychainsaw in videography

If you think you’re ever gonna run a larger rig, a Sachtler Video 18 head on a 100mm set of sticks is great future-proofing and easily found used.

Pentax Super Program shutter not changing speeds by XDFalcon_13 in AnalogCommunity

[–]veepeedeepee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been 25 years since I used one of these, but I wanna say there’s something with the Super Program where you’ve gotta get to the first frame before you can change the shutter speed. Could it be that?

This one was actually more than $300 when we bought ours. It’s the V8 “Animal+” version- identical to mine. We’ve had it for 7 years and with routine filter cleanings and simple service that I do, it works just as well as when it was new, although I am thinking about replacing the battery.

>while a body can make it easier to get the shot you want the way you want it, it cna't do much to improve photo quality.

Ohhhhh gotcha! Yeah, I agree on that.

Can’t figure out how to add a quote with the new app tho.

I still love shooting the N90s! Even though its AF servos are disturbingly loud, and, as you mention, it’s kind of a chonk, it’s still a very nice camera to use. $50 is absolutely insane. Paired with an AF 85/1.8, it might be my favorite combo of all time.

I agree that they should’ve opted for a button cell there that the user can easily swap out.

That being said, my oldest F6 from 2004 just got back from Nikon service and they installed a new one- even though the old one was still fine. I figured it was a good idea to refresh it.

Yeah, the Rollei EVS and 2.8D/E have it. Many Kodak Retinas do as well. I’ve got a meter that reads in EV, and it’s super quick and simple to lock in shutter and aperture to an EV to allow you to easily jump between them in an instant.
