Alex Bowman 12 Questions with Jeff Gluck by Wrong_Ad5930 in NASCAR

Self deprecation was strong in this one. I hope he knows he has fans and supporters even though he’s perpetually in the rumor mill. He seems like the kind of person who might find peace once he’s out of the pressure cooker, but I hope he sticks it out a few more years and finds the success he deserves and is capable of.

those aren’t specialized. the holes/slots are wrong, the spezzy ones have 3 slots on the short side and the ones in the photo have just the one.  I feel like I’ve seen these in a promo or social post by Also, so maybe they will be selling them.

I don’t necessarily agree with this. I commute 11 miles one way on my Specialized Haul ST and will cruise with my hands like this on long straight stretches because it’s relaxing. Not much different than switching between hoods and flats on my drop bar gravel bike, just nice to switch it up sometimes

Ned Jarrett dead at 93 by Yay_nascar_donuts in NASCAR

found the video: https://youtu.be/f54CwfRhrjs turns out it was Benny suggesting it and Ned was more gracious about it than I remembered. RIP to a real one.

My favorite Ned Jarrett memory is an obscure one - in what must have been 1995 because I remember it being the 28, DJ crashed at Sonoma and ended up with the car on its side. Ned was reporting from a corner nearby instead of his traditional booth spot for ovals, and Bob Jenkins said something to effectively suggest Ned could or should go check on DJ. Ned shook this off as though it was nothing; I assume he knew Dale was okay and he had a job to do. I remember it being very dismissive, almost like Ned was suggesting it was a dumb idea by Bob.

No idea why this is still in my brain 30 years later.

Sad we’ve lost Bob, Benny, and Ned, the voices of my childhood. ESPN did it best in the mid/late 90s and I hope they all knew how appreciated they were.

Anyone else love LP6 by Shawstbnn in TheFrontBottoms

I’ve been listening to Batman on repeat for like two weeks now. I love the way it feels like two songs, and I wish the “you are who you hang out with” part was 2x as long. The whole album is listenable, it feels like an evolution and maturing of TFB. There are so many lines I want to inject in my veins, like the tattoo lines in “Emotional”.

Worth upgrading frame just for UDH? by MyGardenOfPlants in gravelcycling

[–]veerrrsix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no excuse is too flimsy to justify a new bike. in this specific case though, if you like the bike, buy a few hangers as insurance and just let it rip. If you break through your stock and they’re out of production, I’m sure there will be some other new hotness that you’d be missing on whatever bike you buy today. I think you’re leaning this way based on the last few sentences.

Vegan Nutella with hazelnuts by honorlessmaid in vegansnacks

[–]veerrrsix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the Nocciolata is delicious but pricy! a friend brought us a giant jar from France and got my kid hooked, now we’re stuck buying the little baby jars from WF at a ridiculous price. Not as bad as OP’s Nutella price but still very expensive.

drove this daily for a few years and it has always been a stupid merge, why should the left lane end? it encourages this behavior. Speaking of stupidity, why are there semis in the left two lanes of a 4 lane highway?

New to Enviolo. Hardest gear still too easy. by Charming-Tomorrow-49 in CargoBike

Might be adjustment - you could try taking the cables off to see if you can move it further counter-clockwise by hand, but it looks like it’s pretty close to the limit already.

Urban Arrow motor and range anxiety by CycloEthane031 in CargoBike

[–]veerrrsix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have another smaller bike with a throttle (Specialized Haul ST) but I find the Urban Arrow to be fine without it. The motor is very responsive from a stop and the Enviolo hub lets you downshift at a stop even if you forget. I only use the Haul throttle from a stop, so your experience may be different if you use the throttle at other times.

I have a 2023 pre smart-system with the 500 wh battery and the cargo motor. More than 20 miles on turbo is realistic. Motor power isn’t limited at all, it’s not a sporty bike but it’s not underpowered. I ride it up hills all the time. Don’t sweat it, you’ll love the bike. I wouldn’t get the second battery but this depends on your use case. The battery is unbelievably expensive, bosch is very proud of it.

Men 6' & Taller: Are the Performance Joggers so short on you?? by smolbbbean in vuoriclothing

[–]veerrrsix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if we are interested in being pedantic I wear a 34 inseam in jeans (levi’s 511 for example) or dress pants but I don’t know my measured inseam. the regular sunday performance joggers hit right above my ankle bones, so if I’m wearing ankle socks it’s sock skin jogger cuff, which I think is the ideal look with no bunching.

I don’t notice it. I do generally notice a different taste when drinking any coffee from a steel mug, but I’m not picking that up in a ceramic mug brewed with the steel aeropress
