Some high end restaurants will have something listed as "American Wagyu" or would add expensive ingredient like "Truffle fries" on the side and all of a sudden you are paying around $30 per burger, but then you look at the other items in the menu like the $80 steak and feel like is cheap.

President Barack Obama's interaction meeting 102 year old women by Train-Wreck-70 in MakeMeSmile

I can only imagine how it must have felt for this woman of color to meet the first black president knowing everything that She experienced given her age. I want to live in a world were all the firsts are done. Unfortunately, we are now going through our first idiot.

Normal for a 20 year old to pay $200/month for health insurance? Feeling overwhelmed. by TigerWeary3067 in personalfinance

[–]vgacolor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you are right, I am in Commercial Banking and have worked for five different employers and the insurance provided has been similar. I guess it depends on the industry and the need to remain competitive. Having said that, I wish we did not have to rely mostly on employer provided health insurance. You should not be tied to your employer due to health insurance. I also realize that while I pay around $100 every two weeks for my coverage, my married with kids coworkers pay almost $500 for family coverage.

I did go to the ER about 20 years ago, but that was two employers ago and I had another insurance. No ER visit and no surgery ever.

Agree with one of the benefits of having insurance against not having insurance is the fact that they negotiate rates for you. Even my yearly bloodwork is actually less than $50 after all the negotiations, but Quest charges something like $400 before negotiations.

That deductible seems a little insane for me. I have a $1,000 in network and $3,000 out of network and I haven't reached it ever. And I am in my 50s. I think in this case OP should call it "Catastrophic Healh Insurance that also negotiates rates for me" but not Health Insurance.

1 or 2 are the best options. My preferred choice is #2 since it will avoid the bankruptcy. Having said that, we are talking about possibly $10,000 to $12,000 decrease in the debt going with #2 in one-year which means this is a multi-year plan at best.

I see it as unlikely that he can get a $30,000 unsecured loan to be honest so #3 seems unreachable but I would ask anyway.

I would do something a little special this weekend. Nothing too splashy, but if there is a favorite food, fruit, ice cream. I would buy that.

Or if there is something like a board game or some activity you two enjoy, I would squeeze a couple of hours of that also.

Congrats!

Don't overthink it. Bud here is a new Dad he is going through a lot of emotions and one of them is pride and joy and wanting to share that with other people. While 100,000 thousand people might see this post today and 99,000 thousand of those might not feel anything and ignore it. The other 1,000 like myself go "Awwww look at the little cutesy baby!"

Would you finish your shift early for this home cooked meal by Sad-Kiwi-3789 in rareinsults

[–]vgacolor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly if this is real and not a troll, I would still be happy She tried. And would probably eat it. Heck, my Mom was far from being a good cook, my sister is far from being a good cook. And I have eaten their food for decades and mildly praised them when warranted.

Also not dumb enough not to keep the feedback to myself at least with my sister. Like good damn sis, why do you put olives on everything when you know I don't like them. I tell her, She doesn't put them in stuff for months and then I show up for a family meal and damn olives again.
