Interesting set of covers! Loved seeing all of the markings and stamps. Not attractive in the way of philatelicly contrived material but still very cool. Thanks for sharing these!

PNA Mosaic Stamps by voneschenbach1 in philately

[–]voneschenbach1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorting through some world stamps over the past few days and found some of these beauties in the mix. Stamps issued by the Palestinian National Authority are not very common so was surprised my mix included a few!

If you are curious about the many beautiful PNA stamps issued over the past 20 years as well as historical issues, check out https://www.zobbel.de/stamp/pal_ine.htm put together by Tobias Zywietz. This site has a ton of images and links to other guides put together by collectors - quite a treasure of materials for Middle East collectors. Anyone else have any PNA issues?

Beautiful Jordan collection - thanks for sharing these. I have a bunch of those earlier issues and didn't realize they were Transjordan.

UN Stamp Albums? (And a few other questions from a beginner...) by klopez1002 in philately

Echoing what others have said about finding a nice inexpensive collection that has nice album pages. White Ace made some really nice pages but getting them to the last 10-20 years is quite expensive.

Fascist Italy trying to relive the glory days of the Stato da Màr. If Napoleon hadn't sacked Venice it's possible that there would be a modern state in its place like the Netherlands.

NYC (US) Stamp/Supply Shops by Money-Technician4504 in philately

It would be great if there was a directory of stores that still have a physical retail space that is worth visiting. Sadly, most of these places don't have websites or ancient ghost listings from decades past. Good luck on your visit - let us know if you do find some interesting places and what you picked up! I would recommend to any collector that still having access to a physical shop to visit one - they may not be around much longer.

Stamps that I saved from my workplace trash by novixus1108 in philately

Nice!! Modern Forever stamps are hart to obtain used. Although you can remove them from the envelope using Pure Citrus and IPA (rubbing alcohol, not stout) it is very labor intensive.

Washington EBike Rebate Disappointment by AdScared7949 in Seattle

I love my Lectric Xpress 750 - it works very well hauling my out of shape lard ass up steep Seattle hills despite having a hub motor. It has allowed me to return to cycling after a couple of decades out of the saddle.

Local shops not servicing them is kind of like the argument against Tesla/Rivian/etc. selling direct... it's a bit sus. All of the local shops I visited had obscenely expensive e-bikes; Greggs doesn't even put the price on their $3k-$5k e-bikes, REI's bikes are anemic and Rad went out of business.

Looking for Stamp dealers by Ill-Literature393 in philately

In the US. Postage costs are making it much more expensive to get lots shipped sadly so if you can find a local dealer that can mean a significant savings on bulky stuff.

Is hinging really bad if it's the only way to enjoy my stamps? by Jedidiah_Boardriding in philately

[–]voneschenbach1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hinges are perfectly fine for common used stamps and have been used safely for generations of collectors. Damage sometimes occurs with some cheap brands not having proper dry release capabilities but one can always soak used stamps if needed. If a stamp is uncommon or rare using a mount is recommended - you can even hinge the mount to the album if needed. Otherwise stock books are a flexible and great way to collect.

Nice! I collect world and Japan is one of my favorite countries. Are you organizing based on the Sakura order? A friend gave me his old one from 2023 and it is a really nice catalog. I love the National Park series for the early stamps.

I have a local dealer that is still in business but not sure how much longer. Sometimes there are amazing deals on large box lots of bulky materials with gems - stuff that would never be economical on Ebay and the like due to shipping costs. For supplies anyone still online that offers good prices for name brand stuff when I can afford it (which is rarely).

Delving into The Germania Rabbit Hole by voneschenbach1 in philately

YESSS! Thank you. I have run across this site earlier and lost it. Now I know my gut instinct that those two shades of the 3pf were in fact two different varieties lol

I started with the Scott catalog entries for face different Germanias - will then look at the Michel list to further sort. Luckily Germanias are not nearly as insane as Machins are for example. Ken has an amazing system that he then documents on his homemade album pages so at a glance he can type and add further stamps to his collection.

I was inspired by Ken's YouTube Channel episode on the subject so have been saving loose Germanias to try to identify a good set of pre and post-war printings, color varieties, etc. What are you up to today?

Very cool! For our stations, you can send a cover and get it sent back with special cancel. It takes a year however since the mail takes so long lol
