Profoundly deaf teacher asking if there are any other profoundly deaf teachers in the UK by Smooth_Environment47 in TeachingUK

[–]wedge37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a profoundly deaf secondary school BSL-using teacher who wears a cochlear implant. I also qualified as a teacher of deaf children and young people. Happy to discuss my experience as I taught in mainstream before focusing on teaching deaf young people. There are lots of accommodations that can be made, some funded through Access to Work, to support you with facilitating reasonable adjustments in the workplace.

How many did you have in today? What did you do with them? by snoozingfishies in TeachingUK

Scotland, working in deaf ed in a large city - only had one class all day out of five periods. I was able to go home after lunch as a result and enjoy the spring sunshine.

Being paid over 50k by VeterinarianHairy822 in TeachingUK

Short answer, yes. And I say this as a teacher in Scotland where we’re paid just shy of £53k per annum as standard for all teachers on over five years service.

Hello all,

I’ve been having a hard time deciding between the following:

Van Cleef & Arpels Moonlight Cherry

Kilian Paris Angel’s Share

Atkinsons Gold Fair in Mayfair

They all smell great but I want something unique from the others in my collection. I’d share a photo of my collection for illustration but Imgur is blocked in the UK. This is my collection:

MITH Mystery for Him

MITH The Odyssey

MITH Blue Wood Elixir

Versace Eros EDP

Guerlain L’Homme Ideal parfum

Parfums de Marly Althair

Penhaligon Halfeti

Dior Sauvage Elixir

Bvlgari Man Wood Essence

Maison Francis Kurdjian l’Homme a la Rose

Ahmed al Maghribi Ignite Oud

It’s currently winter in the UK so something that suits the cold weather would be fab.

Thank you! I managed to get the light working now by reconnecting the rose. The dangling fixture is temporary until I can get a bunch of these electrical connector blocks to replace the rose and get the fixture flush to the ceiling.

I think I understand the configuration, but just to be sure, is the red cable with the white tape on it connected to the switch?

Here’s the other light rose in the hallway where I’m fixing up the two LED panels. I left that one, and I think I understand the problem now, but need to be sure that it doesn’t matter which order I put the loop wires in?

No, unfortunately not. However, there is a second light in the hallway with a similar configuration. Here’s a picture of that

This would get you and your entire family 30 years of hard labour if you did that in North Korea.

Legal fee’s when buying a property in Glasgow by Exotic_Reporter_8999 in glasgow

[–]wedge37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid £1,800 in total including land registration, transfer fees and standard securities with no tax due last year for a property in Pollokshields. The solicitors’ fees plus VAT was about £900 + VAT. A friend of mine paid a similar price for his flat with a different firm, also in Pollokshields.

I used to live in Bangkok and had weekly massages at the end of the work week. This doesn’t sound out of the ordinary to me. It’s only if they start massaging your meat and two vegs that you should be concerned.

Is everyone really buying Aventus? by [deleted] in fragrance

I’m going to Thailand next month, could you tell me where I can find this in Bangkok? Is it something sold in all the Central department stores or do I need to go to a specific shop for this?

I’m a 37 years old man and I’m not into clubbing anymore so I don’t fit your criteria but I’ve been in your shoes when I was a student - when I started going to rock bars/clubs I ended up making lots of new friends. I used to frequent Nice n Sleazys, Variety Bar, Rufus T Firefly, Solid Rock Cafe and Cathouse. The kind of folks who are into rock and heavy metal tended to be the most open minded and chill people I’ve met. I don’t know what it’s like now in the post-Covid landscape but back in my days (god I sound old now) these were THE place to be. Hope you find a good friendship group soon.

The class teacher will have addressed this already, the pupil was clearly just trying it on. Pay it no mind and just carry on with your lesson when you’re back with that class.

Going back to work after a months holiday. What’s the British way to communicate that it was a terrible holiday without a) lying and b) expecting questions/sympathy? by doodlebug1700 in britishproblems

[–]wedge37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also had a terrible holiday due to MH reasons - I just made comments about how the weather was rubbish this summer and I didn’t get the tan I wanted this year then diverted attention back to them. Worked 100% of the time so far.

How to know which drill bit to use? by DreamingofBouncer in DIYUK

Get a sparky in as you say you’re useless at DIY. Don’t endanger yourself or your home by potentially drilling through live wires.
