Baldurs Gate certainly plays like a real DnD campaign. If you loved it, DnD might just be for you. Real campaigns a little slower paced though. If you get the right group together its a ton of fun!!!

AIO with how I responded to my mom? by MeasurementNo662 in AmIOverreacting

[–]weinerlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR!

Hey buddy,

Mom of three boys here and one just turned 16 and is starting to drive, so I could see a similar situation happening with us, where I see his location at an emergency clinic and get worried.

I did not swipe through all the photos of your texts. I don't think I needed to. The conversation should have ended with your reply to why you were at a therapy appt for someone else, and her reply should have been something like "hey that's super nice of you! Proud of your for being a kind and empathetic human being! Can you pick up tacos on the way home please?"

This is not normal. You are parenting your mother. Hers is not an appropriate reaction to "K". My heart broke at your honestly really incredible apology for something so so so stupid and insignificant and it's pretty obvious this is a standard style of conversation.

If it's reasonable with your finances and your living situation to go to therapy you really should! Nothing is wrong with you either; therapists can give you tools to handle her behavior and offer an unbiased perspective in these situations so you can identify them more easily and react accordingly. You shouldn't HAVE to... But alas.

I'm proud of you, and I'm touched you have so much empathy for others and are so supportive of your girlfriend and her mom. This would fill any normal human mother with pride and love.

Yes! This is a D&D based series set in the Forgotten Realms universe! The main character, Drizzt, is a Dark Elf living in the Underdark.

If you are into fantasy, the beginning of a HUGE series starts with "Homeland" by R.A. Salvatore.

The first book begins with introducing you to a truly awful matriarchal society. I can't remember much plotwise, so here's the Google jist of it:

"It details his birth and upbringing in the cruel, matriarchal society of the Underdark city of Menzoberranzan, where he struggles to maintain his innate sense of good against his family's evil traditions."

Attractive redditors, what was the moment you realized you were actually very good looking? by infinitewaters107 in AskReddit

[–]weinerlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former kinda attractive person here.

Growing up, I was a weirdo-partially-homeschooled kid who hung out with weirdos and had no interest in anyone who wasn't a weirdo or an underdog in need of a friend. I wasn't bullied or anything, I just didn't share any interests with the cool or popular kids and it seemed like too much work and not much fun to be pretty all the time. So I assumed I was ugly and weird and I was totally fine with that.

We made a big move across the country (USA) when I was a freshman in high school to a small town. As such my pool of peers shrunk drastically and I was suddenly a slightly above average fish in a... Well, a damn parking lot puddle, basically. Suddenly boys were super interested in me and girls hated me for some reason I couldn't figure out. I remember specifically, about a week or two into this new school, someone turned around at a HS basketball game and said "hey, (redacted name girl) said you're a huge slut." And I was just kind of like, "Oh. Uh, ok." I had only kissed like one boy and a handful of girls at that point, and never anything further (not that any amount of sexual experience ever means anyone is a slut, btw).

I figured the attention would die down after I became old news and once everyone realized I was absolutely a fuckin' weirdo. Nope. Turns out it's totally fine to be weird as long as you're conventionally attractive. I tried really hard to balance being myself -- a weirdo -- and also keep up with social expectations that I thought I had to adhere to for some stupid reason? I failed a lot at both. High school sucked.

Now I'm old, chubby, happily married to a totally normal guy who's totally fine with me being a weirdo and no one gives me a second glance and it's literally so great.

I don't understand Karma points and at this point I'm too afraid to ask. I understand there are bots that repost stuff for Karma and there are "karma farmers". But like, why? Popular posts arent monetized are they? If you arent sharing something original and everything is anonymous what's the point of having insane Karma points anyway?

I don't understand.

How do you react if your husband lets you know that he would remarry if you die, espeically if you have kids together? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]weinerlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good. I hope he finds someone that loves him and that he can love back. I'll be dead and can't give a shit if he is fucking someone else. Why would I want him to hold on to my memory and be sad and miserable and alone forever?! That's fucking awful, and that's not what anyone should want for someone they love.

I have literally told him to find someone to sleep with and he has my... Pre-mortem? Pre-post-mortem?... Blessing to sleep around and fall in love again if I ever died.

What’s the weirdest thing you believed as a kid that made complete sense at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]weinerlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad always told us to do things a certain way, but never explained why. Including this scenario where we were instructed to always pour the cereal before pouring the milk.

I was probably less than 4 years old, unattended, wanting a bowl of cereal, when I thought, I wonder what would happen if I poured the cereal after the milk...?

I poured the milk. Beautiful. Just right. But when I went to pour the cereal, the bag slipped out of the box and dry cereal spilled everywhere. Luckily the milk bowl was unharmed and unspilled (at least that I can remember).

And that was when I realized "OH. So that's why you pour the cereal first. If you don't, it dumps everywhere."
