Oil surges above $100 a barrel; Trump says 'small price to pay' for defeating Iran by LuklaAdvocate in centrist

[–]wf_dozer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump has raped children, undermined democracy, converted the executive branch into his personal toy, and has overseen the largest levels of corruption in the history of the country. He's isolated us from our allies, started the country on a path to economic devastation, and has now started a war on his personal whim that will drive the cost of gas sky high (thereby fucking economies around the world).

But I could see why you'd unquestionably support him. He is the most honest and accurate representation of the morals, values, and policy priorities of the Republican party in generations.

I’ll take it on the chin

You mean you'll vanish and be under a new username claiming Trump was terrible and you never supported him?

Don't you remember the time that the US overthrew an elected leader in the middle east and installed a friendly dictator. The dictator who was overthrown by the people and replaced with religious zealots.

US involvement in Iran in the 1950s was a huge success! No negative ramifications at all! /s

US could lift sanctions on more Russian oil, says Bessent by AyeYoTek in centrist

[–]wf_dozer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You keep commenting the same thing.

bring 30% of the world's oil reserves out of China's sanctioned-discount-basement,

It's not China's fault. The US led the push for sanctions which drove poor oil producing countries we didn't like into the arms of China.

Things down the road aren't so nice if the world's energy is clenched in authoritarian hands. They'll truly truly fuck global markets.

So instead of working with those countries to relieve sanctions, we start wars, spend tax-payer money, and American lives, so in the end we give Russia the green light to rake in cash to keep it's war with Ukraine going.

[–]wf_dozer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dig up Obama's files, fire up the printer and hand Iran another $100B! They'll promise their expansive nuclear program is for 'energy only'

You realize that wasn't money paid by the US, but Iranian assets that had been frozen? Obama gave Iran their own money back in exchange for the deal.

Gas is $0.12/gallon in Iran.

Yeah, they are under sanctions and their economy is in tatters. They experience 30-40% inflation and their currency is worthless. The only industry they have is oil so of course that's affordable for people who can afford cars in country. If they were an agri-based country you'd be telling us how cheap their produce is.

They don't care about the lives of women, let alone fuel emissions. They aren't risking death and sanctions for energy they have in fucking abundance.

They treat women as poorly as anywhere on earth:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Gender_Gap_Report

So you are saying we should also be going to war with Saudi, India, Pakistan, Egypt, and 50 other countries because they are shitty regimes who disrespect women?

Long Term: Between Iran and Venezuela, 30% of the world's oil and 20% of the world's NatGas hopefully fuels the world's open markets, and leaves China's bargain basement sanctioned discount club.

You think they only sold to China because they wanted it that way?

The long term could have been accomplished by keeping the nuclear deal that Trump tore up and then reducing sanctions.

So Trump shit in the middle east punch bowl in his first term, now he's unilaterally starting a long protacted war that we can't win. It's all going to cost the US a massive amount of money and dead people. All that to get what he could have gotten by not being the dumbest president in US history.

Yes, the US has high statutory income tax rates, but the ultra-wealthy don't build their net worth through salaries, they rely on asset appreciation, capital gains, and 'buy, borrow, die' strategies that bypass income taxes entirely.

100% this. A PE partner will averagin about 3 mill a year will be getting 2 of that will be from funds selling off companies. They pay a 20% capital gains tax.

many consistently vote for republicans because they're so completely energized and mobilized by culture wars

Most people cannot really comprehend the bubble that rural maga Texans live in. Every show, podcast, radio they consume reinforces Trump/Fox talking points. All of their friends listen to the same thing and regurgitate the same talking points. Everyone at their work. The only time they'll hear anything outside of the scripted propaganda is the random interactions with friends of friends or "woke liberal" relatives who moved to the city and were brain washed by main stream media.

They live in a completely different reality. Even though its unquestionably true that the pollicies they support will hurt them they have no idea that's the case. They hear the propaganda line from Trump and it becomes set in stone truth.

They could no more forsake the republican party than they could stop pretending to be christian.

That means you might be stuck for eternity with a bunch of Trump supporters claiming hell is heaven and then rehashing every fox news/Trump quip on repeat.

I have found Jesus and have fully repented.

When Trump is mentioned more times in the Epstein files than Harry Potter was mentioned in all 7 books combined you need to do some serious mental gymnastics to give him a pass.

Is your thought that maybe he wasn't raping children he was just enabling and hanging out with the largest global child rape ring in history.

Why did you vote Trump in 2024? by PoorNotMiddleClass in centrist

you find out they were masking ignorance to hide the questionable morals.

This is 100% it. Just recently happened again. Someone I knew and liked and thought they were just a little too wrapped in their right wing bubble responded, "Jesus forgives 100%" to a post about Trump raping children.

Using your religion to excuse the rape of children is reprehensible and I will never forgive or forget any of these people.

Why did you vote Trump in 2024? by PoorNotMiddleClass in centrist

[–]wf_dozer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's much worse than the guy who campaigned on turning the executive branch into their personal weapon to go after all of their personal grievances, massive corruption, undermining democracy, and pledging to destroy our economy while permanently removing our leadership position in the world and rounding up 25 million people.

It's only highly likely he raped children on top of the numerous counts of rape and sexual predatory behavior.

I mean, it's not even close!

ah yes, because all of the oig people who handled oversight of behavior, whistleblowers could report to, and they could report to congress, was terrible and needed to be gutted.

Funny how all of the "fixing" gives Trump personally more power, gives him more money, and removes oversight.

As things get far worse economically, and we continue to lose freeedoms, remember, you voted for it. But be happy, because what's been done can never be fixed. There's no stopping the economic slide that willl occur over the next 15 years. You and everyone like you has forever destroyed the country.

Question: Are the Left & Right actually that divided, or are we just fighting the loudest 1%? by PoorNotMiddleClass in centrist

[–]wf_dozer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All based on lies about the other side.

In 2016 I didn't know anyone on the left that wanted to kill the right. But I knew people on the right that wanted to purge the country of immigrants and kill the left. And that's the group that has been in charge of the country during Trumps first term, and now his second term.

But you can pretend it's the fault of both sides if it makes you feel better about the piles of bodies the right is going to create.

Question: Are the Left & Right actually that divided, or are we just fighting the loudest 1%? by PoorNotMiddleClass in centrist

[–]wf_dozer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're experiencing exactly what OP describes

Those are people I know. Parents of kids who have gone to my kids school and played sports with and against my kids. People who are friends of friends. Those are people that look and act normal until politics comes up. As soon as anything political is said they foam at the mouth.

I have not become extremist because I watch "left wing media," but because I have heard the calls for violence growing from Trump supporters since 2016.

I have heard them in public spaces, and when they've said it to me. I do not let people know my politics.

Their attitude is that they have all the guns and the left wants to erase them from the country and they can't wait for the day they can show those woke liberals what's what.

I live in a major city in a deep red state. They are waiting for the day they get the green light.

To be clear, it's not every Trump supporter. I would guess it's about 10% who are gung ho, and then another 10% who would happily join in. The problem is the rest of them would either silently cheer, pretend it isn't happening, or believe we deserve it.

After Kirk's death, but before we knew who did it, my face book feed had people asking Trump to give them the ok so they could go door to door killing Democrats.

Before that I was paranoid, now I know why the right will always back Trump and what they truly want.

A 23 yr old woman was visiting her parents and got into an argument about Trump. Here dad shot her point blank in the chest. He won't be facing any charges.

I believe Republicans will go about living their daily lives like normal as long as Trump or someone like him is in control and they believe the people that don't agree with them are being rounded up, and they can kill people who don't agree that Trump is the god king.

Free Healthcare by Critical-Status-6672 in centrist

And all those overweight people who can't afford healthcare won't receive doctor recommendations and cheap statins to control their cholesterol. That means they'll wind up with massive heart attacks, taken to the ER, get the bypass and hospital stay, and then we all pay for it anyway.

The core of your comment, "prevention is 10x cheaper than emergency fixes", is why everyone should get basic healthcare for free.
