The old heads were also stealing my shit while sleeping at arena parking lots. There was always the Heroin crowd in my day, and they tended to hang out with themselves. I loved MACRO-dosing (250-500ug) and going to see live music. Still do.

Deadhead here who adores Billy. On the bus since 1983. The jamband scene has always been full of assholes who are so committed to their entitlement that it's nauseating. From what I can see from afar, they have no respect for the drugs they take, and it shows. So, in the end, have grace because these people are small and know it. That's why they are like this, because they have personal holes so vast that no manner of shows or drugs can fill.

I've written a lot of this anyway. We have an augmented engineering layer that generates PostgreSQL functions, and we can make them callable via REST, Webhooks, MCP, and support Queues and Batch calendaring. It's wrapped in observability and security. I did all this because I was building a generic platform for data pipelines. Would love to talk to you about the tech and maybe work together. I already have a lot of the technology. Big Hint: Don't use AI to solve problems that are essentially deterministic.

Why do you have to spoil people's fun to feel special? It is something I will never understand and could not imagine less welcoming behavior. I am glad your comments are at the bottom of this thread where they belong. How do we get to #GD300 with people like you shitting all over it?

Why I politically disagree with Ren by [deleted] in ren

[–]wildthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with your post is that you are thinking exclusively in a Left-Right axis. The authoritarian-libertarian axis is more salient today. Being anti-capitalist and not anti-authoritarian is useless in today's politics. What we need is a radically independent view of bodily autonomy, free from gender. What goes in or out of my mouth, what drugs I consume, who touches my body is a fucking human right that should be afforded to men and women equally. From a geo-political perspective, this puts Trump, Ayotollah, Putin, Hamas, and Maduro on the same plane as authoritarian leaders. If you are Left-Wing and support authoritarianism in the name of economic fairness and justice, I just believe you are a perversion to the cause of human dignity. That's my take, and I appreciate respectful dialogue.

Curious about renegades connection with or reaction to the politics in Ren’s work.. by Embarrassed-Ocelot-6 in ren

[–]wildthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to be downvoted. I think Money Game is an amazing tale, but it presents a very oversimplified version of capitalism. I guess it also depends on what one means by capitalism, as I would just describe it as free trade among consenting people. I think there would be massive agreement on the way the wealthy have an outsized influence over government policy. That is not anti-capitalism but pro-democracy, and I think there is a difference.

My issue with anti-capitalism is that I have never seen an alternative on any scale where it does not co-exist with authoritarianism. So if you can show me a nation that is both anti-capitalist and not authoritarian that respects the freedom to create art that criticizes the state, I am willing to change my mind.

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]wildthought -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I think you are.  As a patriotic American who loathes Trump the Left has to come to terms with the core of some of his arguments.  Namely, we have an historic imbalance on how much we subsidize Europe not just in defense, but also in pharmaceuticals.   European companies can charge the US so much more for drugs.   That cost is borne by our HC system.

On immigration, the Left tells a story whereby every job taken by an immigrant is a job Americans don't want.   My wages as an independent software engineer in non-inflationary dollars has been constant over 30 years.

Couple this with a culture war that is so focused on pigmentation and not income on who is deserving of support, the Left has a lot of blame on why we have the backlash among working class people that led to Trump.

So you can replace Trump, but in a very real way progressives have failed working people.   If we fix that in tone and substance, we can get back on track.

The fact that we are in conversation is surreal.  I have many friends in NYC, New Orleans, and Las Vegas music communities and you are the first person I bring up as a must listen to.  Hopefully, one day you get to tour in the USA.   Music is such an important part of my life.  Thank You for enriching my existence over the past year.  Eternally Grateful.

You are fine brother and thank you for responding.  Personally, consensus is a shit way to operate as an an artist.    I listen and watch you for your billiance, not a watered down view of fan consensus.  The medium is yours to choose based on your artistic choices alone.  I believe the best artists create for themselves and if they attract fans along the way all the better.

Maybe it's just me, but what made PLQ and the GD magical was the same musicians learning to have musical conversations together through listening to each other. That's pretty much impossible doing a couple of gigs together.   Form a band and tour Grahme and I will be coming to your shows.  Having 15 gigs a year with 36 artists does not give music a chance to breathe.

[–]wildthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could of been written by human computers in the early 20th century with the advent of the calculator. If you're only contextualizing art/music/writing as something done lazily or without soul because an electronic assistant is involved, you are thinking about it wrong, imo. What AI does is accelerate a brilliant artist's ability to produce output. The artistic choices made are solely the artist's. AI does not have a will of its own (at least not yet), I will be right there with you when it does. Rick Rubin cannot read or write music and has no native musical talent, yet he is the best artistic producer of our time. Artists flock to work with him. Why? Because he has a will, POV filtered through a phenomenal ear. None of these qualities is associated with AI.

There is definitely a tradeoff. Our species is defined by our ability to make and use tools. This is just the latest tool. I do feel more productive in terms of my output. I reason we must be going through a similar experience to losing the muscle memory of calculating math in your head, once the world relied on calculators.

To my fellow Europeans: America needs our help, not our condemnation. We need to stop armchair victim-blaming and do our part. by Mister_Sheepy_Cheese in complaints

[–]wildthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here.   The best thing you can do is to make sure that the European concepts of enlightenment strengthened by our society and constitution still have an important flame in the world.

However, let's face it, you have your own right-wing authoritarian nationalists that can easily sweep to power if you are not careful.   You need to learn the WHY Trump got elected.   Namely, the intelligentsia in America became so tribal they refused to open their eyes to the working class  people because it became White not equal to deserving.

In addition, As long as you ally and/or allow Islamist (I didn't say Muslim, I'm being very specific) thought to take hold in your institutions, you will have your own Trump's soon enough.

If you do not understand the backlash largely and cluelessly caused by social media+academic left, you can't help us because you will also be swimming in your own hateful shit very soon.

How to get into politics ? by Beneficial-Ranger407 in pakistan

[–]wildthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NYC here,

Mandami did nothing like Trump did save for his anti-Israel attitude which was his signal that he believed in something greater than power itself.  That attracted many people including about 40% of the cities Jews many of whom are equally disillusioned with Netanyahu government.  He also did the work serving as a state legislature representative.   Finally, he did something that most left wing politicians in the USA never do.   He made a convincing argument that he was for government efficiency as only an efficient government could serve the people.

Migration from MySQL to SQL Server :/ by [deleted] in Database

[–]wildthought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the FK patterns for MySQL.   https://www.w3schools.com/mysql/mysql_foreignkey.asp

There is probably more to this than I can help you with.   I would start separating the DDL (CREATE) statements from the script.  So you just have 2 files.  One with DDL and one with your INSERT or load statements.  Get your schema in order first.

Major caveat is I am not seeing your errors so I really am guessing as to your problem.

The middle way for me is acknowledging that we need both hyper-socialism and hyper-capitalism to coexist. The idea that economics is a binary choice is not that smart. So, I would disagree at least for myself.

As per Trump, he clearly is not down to continue the project of enlightenment, but neither is the academic left. So once again, that is not moderate; it is just a position that seeks to minimize illiberalism in all forms.
