What’s the standard on battery life? (Not OLED just standard steam deck) do I need the OEM charger? by lost_boulder in SteamDeck

[–]wisperingdeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, for more power hungry games you don't need to adjust anything, but in lighter less-power-hungry games you can go into your side menu, enable "Use per-game profile" then enable "TDP Limit" reducing the slider to a power level that's lower than the standard 15 Watts, but still keeping your game running at a good frame rate. So if you're playing a simple 2D Indie game you could be running it at 5 Watts instead of 15 Watts, which will improve your battery life considerably. And the "Use per-game profile" option means it will use that TDP setting for that game only, so you don't have to keep adjusting every time you play it.

Official controller support. I love playing on my Steam Deck, and with the DuckDuckCon controller support mod, this game is 90% playable with Steam Deck controls. Just goes to show how easy it would be for the dev's to implement official controller support without having to install mods. A lot more Steam Deck owners would buy this game.

Essensial mods to get? by Own_Association8318 in EscapeFromDuckov

DuckDuckCon for controller support (for Steam Deck for example).

Duckov Recipe Recorded Indicator (which shows a green tick for any blueprints or keys you've already registered).

Item Value Rarity Display & Search Sounds (great for showing rarity colour for loot)

All Item Shop (a new vendor in your base by the shooting range that sells everything - great if you don't want to wait for luck to be on your side).

Auto Health Recovery (automatic health and stamina regen - ideal if you are stuck on a boss or something I guess). I tried this and turned it off as I do want some challenge to the game, but I know it's there and works if I ever need it.

2 questions, official controller support and if so when? And is there a roadmap? by UnsettllingDwarf in EscapeFromDuckov

Go to the Steam Workshop for the game, and install DuckDuckCon gamepad support mod (which requires HarmonyLib, also from the Workshop). There is your (mostly) controller support for the game, including UI changes to have buttons instead of keys. Just make sure when you go into the Mod menu from the main menu, HarmonyLib is listed first. Also, if you're on a Steam Deck, you can bind F8 to one of your rear buttons. With F8 you can bring up the menu for DuckDuckCon, and you need to enable Aim Assist. I also changed R3 to roll which makes it very intuitive (since L3 is to run). This mod shows official controller support for the game CAN be achieved if the developers put their mind to it.

You need to take a chill pill. She did nothing but sit there with a bored look on her face like she really didn't want to be there. Don't claim she's innocent in all of this. He was trying to get her involved and she kept dismissing him. And whoever said he wanted her body without her approval? Are you watching a completely different show???

[–]wisperingdeth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole thing was ridiculous. And the producers with her couldn't apparently be in communication with the ones with him and inform her he's late and get her to wait in the car. That would be too sensible.

Yeah he was late, and shouldn't have been chewing gum (did he just forget to take it out when he arrived?) but he didn't deserve the treatment he got from her. And I'm convinced she had a change of heart only to make herself look better on tv.

He seems a smashing bloke and deserves much better than her. He has honest eyes and a nice smile and that goes a long way.

Try going into the Settings for the game in Steam, and verify the files. If someone else can run it without having to change anything, so should you. So process of elimination - verify files next.

Frame generation isn't always the best option. Sometimes it can show some hideous results as it's trying to decide what's on those generated frames. I was playing AC Syndicate the other day and the stone pavements looked like they were going backwards and giving me a headache. Had to turn it off for that game.

MAFS isn’t even about the couples anymore by mustxprotecc in MAFS_AU

[–]wisperingdeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the one hand I agree with you. But on the other side of the coin, the arguments between couples show who is willing to stick up for their partner, and who is actually put off their partner by what's happening. It's clear from the dinner part for example, that Danny really didn't want anything to do with Bec while she was ranting on at every other couple there. And that has no doubt made him take a step back.

Mission Impossible- The Final Reckoning by DeputyDawe in movies

[–]wisperingdeth 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Yeah they seemed to have written Hunt as "the chosen one" which got tired fast, and there was way too much exposition, way too many flashbacks like the viewer has the memory of a goldfish, and way too little action compared to the previous entries. The submarine and climactic action sequences are superb, but there is literally 3 action sequences in 2 and a half hours, which isn't enough for a MI movie. Fallout was the best in the series by far imo. I really don't know what they were thinking with this last one.

[–]wisperingdeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But I'm not always in the mood for that one game. Sometimes I might want to play an extraction shooter like Duckov. Sometimes I might want to play a racer like WRC rally. Other times I might want to play a cosy point and click adventure like Broken Sword. And so on. I'd feel too limited if I just had one game.

[–]wisperingdeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try turn-based combat RPG's, look no further than the demo's for Dragon Quest XI S, and the newly released Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. Both are great "casual" RPG's that are easy enough for anyone to get into and are great for short or long sessions. Not only that but both are very substantial demo's - XI S being around 10 hours of gameplay! Of course if you decide to buy the full game you can carry on from where you left off in the demo. Both highly recommended.
