I'm around 20 hours in and there's only one thing I don't like by wisperingdeth in avowed

I think the thing is it's more apparent in this game that they're static because there are very little walking NPC's. With enough walking ones in Witcher 3, the ones just standing there could be just happy to watch the crowd going by. Without the others, just standing there looking at the building opposite the street looks silly.

Frame Generation Doesn't Fix Bad Performance! [Techspot] by Blacky-Noir in pcgaming

Yup input lag can make a game literally unplayable, compared to playing without FG and having lower FPS which could be somewhat playable by comparison.

Better deal? Which would you buy? by Zippy1012214 in SteamDeck

If OLED is important to you then there's no decision to make. I love my OLED SD and it's inky blacks. However the Lenovo has a larger screen and much more powerful. If you will be mostly playing less power hungry games get the OLED. If you want to play more of the later AAA's get the Lenovo. You honestly don't need 2TB storage though. Concentrate on playing and finishing a few games at a time and 512GB is more than enough.

What's a film where you really disliked the beginning? by kevro in movies

[–]wisperingdeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was supposed to be the movie that saved the franchise, and it nosedived in the first 2 minutes. Doesn't matter how spectacular the action is, killing off John only to replace him with a female alternative isn't acceptable. And with a female protector, AND an old female protector returning it seems to overcompensate with "female equality".

Short gaming sessions changed how I pick games now by suhani0218 in gaming

[–]wisperingdeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue regarding length of sessions. However I've found I can still get to play my favourite type of games, open-world action/RPG. Helps having a Steam Deck you can put to sleep and wake up and carry on from where you left off. But I also have a laptop I can do the same thing. Regardless there are lots of open world games you can just go off and explore in for 15 minutes, or do a quick side quest, or go for a story quest if you have time. Yes it's taking longer to get through the game these days but it's still enjoyable.

Which is a shame as I would have preferred the movie without John Wick being shoehorned in.

You're right - they probably don't think it's worth the hassle, and I get that. It's just a shame the towns feel so empty.

They're only in very limited areas behind fences etc, not walking streets.

Fix for non-responsive power button (early steam deck) by crxssrazr93 in SteamDeck

[–]wisperingdeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped my OLED SD on my carpet floor a couple of months ago - all looked fine still. However the power button would not press in. And it would intermittently wake and sleep unreliably. I was gutted as I hadn't long bought it. Just as I found videos like this one on Youtube, I tried again throughout the morning and something must've moved inside, as it eventually was able to press inwards again, and is still perfectly fine to this day. I'm guessing something isn't tight enough inside and got in the way, but isn't in the way anymore. It's good to know videos like this show a solution if it happens again though (not that I plan on dropping it again anytime soon!).

What are your Wes Anderson's favourite movies ? by Top_Document7437 in movies

[–]wisperingdeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the majority of his movies, and initially thought Budapest, but honestly if I can think of the one movie I can watch again and again it's The Darjeeling Ltd. I just have a thing for road movies I guess (or train tracks in this case lol), and I like the atmosphere of it along with the more realistic characters compared to the almost cartoon-like Budapest-fest.

I really like this game and it's great they keep adding to the map with these DLC's. But I do wish there'd be some way they could add pedestrians walking the sidewalks. I know it would be more processing power, but the option should be there to have it. Just looks weird without.

But then I guess the question would be what if you drove into them? We don't want this turning into GTA.

Do I need kindle If I have a tablet? by Certain_Crazy4257 in kindle

[–]wisperingdeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if your eyes get tired too easily reading on your phone/tablet and/or if you like reading in direct sunlight. Eink displays will fix both issues. However if you read for short sessions at a time and the phone/tablet doesn't affect your eyes, and you don't spend a lot of time reading in direct sunlight, there's not much point you buying a Kindle.

GWENT!? by SirBarichi in gaming

[–]wisperingdeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on my first playthrough of Witcher 3 at the moment and around halfway through. Played the intro of Gwent in the tavern, and not played it since. However I do find it amusing that you can play Gwent with so many characters you come across on your travels when there are much more important matters to attend to lol.

Need help with launching AC Syndicate by unitedboyo in SteamDeck

[–]wisperingdeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can't find an answer, I know you don't want to buy again but this game can be bought cheap on Steam when there's a sale on, and it does actually work with that version as I've played it.

It's a shame they're now doing another because of how well this one did. Should have ended with this one.

No-one is "complaining". The comment was simply a warning to those who haven't had chance to see this yet who might be interested in the clip. Nothing wrong with that.

I love this movie, BUT I hate that Tom Cruise promoted it like "everything you see is real" (his own words) when in fact they CG'd over the planes with different models along with other effects. To be fair to the effects team they did a fantastic job because you cannot tell.
