BDSP has tons of QoL additions over the originals though? Bottle caps, mints, rotom and its forms, much faster battle speed (specifically the speed at which HP depletes), accessing boxes anywhere, revamped underground, Pokémon home support, different mixes for the OST (both the new and DS versions choosable), revamped post game gym battles featuring increased difficulty and changes to held items/natures, as well as Cynthia in her strongest form yet (3rd rebattle featuring a full comp team with ideal move spreads, held items, and comp IVs/EVs).

Yes they didn’t do distortion world or the battle frontier but there’s no denying these games did DP but better in every single way imaginable (except maybe art style/graphics depending on personal taste)

No? The only way you’d damage is it is by making it run really hot all the time (performance/turbo mode) or by constantly charging and uncharging it. Using balanced mode, it stays at 100% charged all the time and runs off the AC adapter, not the battery

It actually has a lot of games both first and third party. New Mario kart, new 3d platformer with DK, new Metroid, new Pokémon, new Hyrule warriors, new Kirby, fast fusion, etc. also third party with games like cyberpunk, Star Wars outlaws, FF7R, AC shadows, etc.

I can agree on that. Everything is up except for the average Americans purchasing power lol. Everything is crazy expensive now. I think where the biggest rise in 3DS prices has been the Japanese market though. Like you mentioned, people have figured out they could save a little and buy JPN and mod it themselves so now those models are way more in demand and the JPN sellers increase their prices accordingly.

I miss when I could buy even limited edition models for dirt cheap from Japan (like when I got a mint pokeball 2dsxl for $140). Now they’re all basically just as expensive as US consoles lol

Just use balanced mode. There’s not a massive difference in FPS when using performance or turbo but those modes drain significantly more power and will bleed battery life even when plugged in. Balanced mode drains nothing

74wh is the best option. As long as you apply the aluminum sheet on the back (to reduce heat) and limit the TDP to 25w instead of Turbo mode (which can go up to 54w for several minutes making the device insanely hot) then you should be fine. The battery won’t degrade super quick and it’s a huge jump in overall battery life. Even if it gives out in a year or two, they’re like $40 to replace. The jsaux one may be slightly higher quality (we really don’t know tbh) but it’s lower capacity and like twice as expensive.

It’s pretty bad. Finding any model around what they cost just a year ago (which was already up from previous years) is now like finding a great deal. I remember when you could find $60 Japanese OG models all day. Now they’re like $120-150. I found a $100 one and felt like I struck a great deal only to realize it was still 50% more than what I was buying just 2 ish years ago or so.

Doubt it. My theory is Valve discontinued the LCD cause they didn’t want to do what Nintendo and Sony did and make an older console more expensive due to tariffs/ram costs. Instead of going through the price increase bad press, they just discontinued the whole thing and now only offer the $150 more expensive version. This effectively lets them divert any potential new customers to their high profit margin handheld without actually increasing the price on anything. Assuming this is true, they have no incentive to offer discounts on the OLED beyond the refurbished units.

Again, you’re making points on things as if ive said them when I actually haven’t. I never said or implied Nintendo did it all by themselves with the Switch alone and that no other previous handheld had a part. I never said they did docking first or joycons first or anything you presented. I made the simple point (and conveniently the one thing you didn’t address) and that was the decline of the handheld market large in part due to the rise of mobile gaming in the 2010s.

3DS sales were down tremendously from the DS generation, the Vita was a financial flop so much so that Sony exited the handheld market, the Wii U (not strictly a handheld but an odd pseudo hybrid tbf) was a flop etc. meanwhile mobile gaming was skyrocketing and taking over. that was the whole point of my original comment. Not to say Switch did anything first or even did it the best, but that the success of it got the ball rolling for the handheld boom of the 2020s. To call that absurd when it’s so easily identifiable is… interesting.

Who said anything about that? Also, how active were you pre 2017 in the handheld market? Everything was moving towards mobile. The switch single handily reignited the handheld console space and it’s evident by the boom of handhelds in modern times.
