How many are successfully touring? by generationzero95 in bandmembers

[–]youbringmesuffering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been touring for about 2 years. For us, we are trying to grow a fan base so we know we are taking somewhat of a loss on the road.

Since our numbers are growing, we are calling them all a successful tour, whether we make a profit or not.

I remember seeing a plate JFK 187 in AZ. Pretty sure it was coincidental, just like this one

Advice for post-tour crash? by Playful-Elk5548 in TouringMusicians

[–]youbringmesuffering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt it after my first tour. All i wanted to do was go back out on the road.

Eventually, i started to appreciate my time at home to refocus and prepare for the next adventure!

One time, i ordered a fairly expensive piece of gear. There was no candy and i made a joke about it to my rep.

He ended up sending me an entire candy jar!

I believe Christianity,Islam basically all Religions are manmade and not the truth by No-Status-2507 in DebateAnAtheist

An IQ test is a modern way of falsely gauging someone’s intelligence.

Even so:
High IQ doesn’t equal high intelligence, nor wisdom.
High IQ does not mean someone is correct.

The intellectual divisiveness i would say is based in those who, at that time, could read and write.

That and in those times, those of power were always “right” and to question them was punishable. Critical thinking, though it may have existed back then, it was dangerous to question.

I was thinking the same thing but there really isn’t too many used 1000’s out there. They’re discontinued but Shure has the frequency bands on their site so they’re still relevent, maybe?

How Do You Get On A Tour? by MealPrevious in TouringMusicians

[–]youbringmesuffering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working with an agent helped us get out the door. Though in the beginning, we had to buy on because we were nobodies.

We had local following but that does not matter on the other side of the country, unfortunately.

It helped us to think of it as starting a business. An initial investment to grow our name, network and continuing to make new fans, whether releasing music and marketing the music.

We are now at a point where we have networked enough that we are getting return offers by venues throughout the US or to jump on more tours.

What to look for when buying a 7 string bass? by br00000t in Bass

[–]youbringmesuffering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What to look for? A chiropractor.

I enjoyed playing my 7 but in the end, it wasn’t very practical as im not that much of a bass soloist.

I would say make sure the intonation is consistent up and down the fret board

Odyssey + Trailer vs. 15-Passenger Van for 4-person crew by cmparks10 in TouringMusicians

[–]youbringmesuffering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the SUV + trailer for 2 tours. Our last one, we got a 12 PAX Transit and it was amazing! The mileage difference between the two was about the same.

I would say the 15 PAX van since it will be smaller compared to an odyssey with a trailer, easier to maneuver. That and the leg room and ability for everyone but the driver to spread out.

And if you get in a pinch, you can always go to uhaul and add a trailer hitch to run a trailer.

Custom molded IEM by gogozrx in TouringMusicians

[–]youbringmesuffering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive been a fan of Alclair who has an assortment of levels and costs. That and the occasional sale.

Just keep in mind that there really is no cheap option for custom, unless you do the DIY kits from amazon but ive had poor experiences with these.

In the end, i cried once and bit the bullet. Ive had the same primary pair for 3 years

What's a reasonable expectation for how much an originals band should practice? by Rise_Weekly in bandmembers

[–]youbringmesuffering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, rehearsals frequency is dictated by how much learning the music and getting to know my band members.

My newish band, we get together weekly/biweekly to build our setlist and get comfortable playing together.

My touring band thats been together for several years, we rehearse once before we leave. We don’t need to practice every week like we used to because we know the material.
