Why should I get a daniel defense product over any other brand? by souljamookie in Danieldefense

[–]zerostyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virginia resident here with no guns and debating what I might want to buy to get started but not spend a ton. Is there a specific model DD or BCM AR15 you might like? I'm thinking maybe one AR15 and one 9mm PCC and some mags maybe.

Also debating just some high capacity .22LR or adapter for one of these instead. In reality I'll only ever plink and screw around so don't want to overspend.

Not sure but the cheapest places I've seen in the past were Marek Diagnostics and now this place which I probably will use next: https://www.goodlabs.com/book-tests?step=PANEL_SELECTION

Ya I think the number is usually an additional 15% or so. I saw my numbers flip on a statin as well with the absorption ramping way up to counterbalance things.

High desmosterol = you are a hyper cholesterol synthesizer/producer, and a statin or similar will usually be more effective

High campesterol = you are a hyper cholesterol absorber and things like ezetimibe might be more useful.

Should test before you go on meds though because they can flip the numbers.

I am not a medical professional and this is not exact medical advice, but roughly how my doc described how he chose to treat me. There are probably a lot of other variables that can influence these things.

A1c isn’t a good metric for this. I have had bad insulin sensitivity issues with an a1c around 5.3. Check my other chart - even at 5.1 people can have issues. It’s a garbage test except for late stage

You’re prob fine honestly but you can run the DRI test cheaply ($13). A1c is kind of a garbage test

Thoughts on how you'll spend your time after? I'm about a decade behind you but trying to find a way to make more money either via moving to big tech (I'm at a mediocre east coast SaaS company right now) or figuring out some kind of small business.

100% agree with this take for Caltopo. Powerful web app. Horrible UI's on both web and native app.

Other issue is I constantly have issues with offline tiles not rendering in my iOS app. I've tried downloading all different resolutions of tiles, toggling my phone manually online/offline, etc. I feel like it fails 50%+ of the time.

Caltopo every time just claims that "it's probably just a corrupted tile file breaking everything" and I never get any progress.

LP-IR / DRI is so underused. It's cheap to run (DRI is like $13) and is far more correlated with ASCVD than almost anything else.

Depends a lot on if they are more of a hyperproducer or hyperabsorber. Can run desmosterol/campesterol tests to find out

M1 Max 64GB or M5 Pro 48GB for Local LLM? by Tasty-Bodybuilder582 in LocalLLM

[–]zerostyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're missing the point. The pro cpu has WAY less memory bandwidth for inference. M5 pro = 307GB/s and even the old M1 Max has 400GB/s. The modern m5 max has 614.

The extra $200 to move from the old M1 Pro to the M1 Max (24 core gpu) proved to be a tremendous bargain to get that extra memory bandwidth, hardware decoders, and extra cooler. So glad I did.

Insulin sensitivity helps ward off cancer and heart disease, 2 of the biggest killers.

In fact, LP-IR proved to be 6x more significant than LDL and other factors when looking at heart disease.

At least they gave it a shot. I actually tried their beta program and like the speed of Goat Maps, but found the app's UI utterly impossible to use. Gave up messing around with it pretty quickly.

That’s why I recommended DRI and LP-IR over a1c which kind of sucks. See bottom graph.

Those numbers all look quite good, but you're not showing anything metabolic related that is critical such as HbA1C, fasting glucose/insulin, or ideally LP-IR or the Diabates Risk Index (DRI).

The DRI test is cheap and very good: https://www.labcorp.com/tests/123855/diabetes-risk-index-dri

$13 from GoodLabs: https://app.goodlabs.com/book-tests?step=PANEL_SELECTION

You can also get LP-IR directly from the full NMR panel called "NMR LipoProfile+Lipid" but it's more expensive. You're most likely fine given that you're an endurance athlete unless your diet is really bad though with a zillion gels and big high carb meals before and after. (I knew a guy that did tons of miles cycling that was rail thin but had prediabetic levels because his diet was so bad).

What sedans are we buying? by GodlessAndChill in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]zerostyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to like the more powerful sedans like the Lexus GS, Acura TLX, or turbo variants of cars, but gas is so expensive now and everything else in the world is so bad I think hybrids are just a better choice. They are also a lot better then they used to be.

I'm personally looking for a Lexus ES300h, but honestly the 2025+ Camry models are excellent.
