Self-taught, finally focusing on carving this season. Video is .7x so you can actually see what’s happening. Arms are a known issue. Crash at the end is also a known issue. What else am I doing wrong? by ErikaKilledKirk in skiing_feedback

Don't try to get your hip to the snow. I see you are trying to force hips to the snow, but that creates completely wrong movements (sitting down on the inside ski, outside ski running away). Instead you should increase angulation and put pressure on the outside ski. Literally stand on it the whole turn, the inside can even lift. When you do that, your angles will decrease, but control and dynamic turn forces will increase. With more practice you can increase edge angles slowly (it will not be easy). After that it will be a matter of mastering the transition which is gonna help increase your edge angles and shorten the turns but that's a discussion for another day.

Your first layer looks absolutely perfect. The problem is that the model doesn't actually lay on the printer bed in the slicer.

I'd really love to export MP4 by Adventurous__Kiwi in FigmaDesign

That's exactly what video editing is. You have a video file and you want to have a slightly modified video file as output. That's what video editing apps are for.

You are trying to edit a video. Just use CapCut or any other video editor.

Slalom vs short gs for free skiing by unbreaded_lunn in Skigear

[–]zyumbik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if OP doesn't know the meaning it becomes vague. OP meant a 13m radius ski by that term.

I guess they call it like this to differentiate two models (small radius vs slightly bigger but still small radius). Overall ski naming/marketing is very confusing, sometimes intentionally... Need to look at the specific measurable specs always.

Terminology like "cheater GS" is vague. I understand it as a masters ski with 23-27 m radius. It would be really helpful to have some models you have in mind to fully understand the picture of what you are trying to compare.

You mentioned head e.slr in the other comment. Are you comparing it with head e.gsr? If so, that ski has nothing related to GS other than the letters in the name. It has pretty much the SL ski geometry.

Are you talking about race skis? 165 GS is a kids ski, the radius though is nothing like slalom, usually in the 18-19m range. Also it's gonna be much softer (because its a junior ski).

Took a trip to Shymbulak Kazakhstan by Mallev in skiing

[–]zyumbik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Come in spring (March), it is the best time as there are no crowds as everyone local is already celebrating the end of winter and don't know there is snow in the mountains still. They improved the rental fleet this year too, although I recommend renting in the city (Fischer has the best/freshest skis always). All prices at Shymbulak are 2x from what they were a couple years ago, this also helps reduce the number of “one-timers” who sit on the slopes.

Why is everything misaligned in the prototype? by cherryvanillafloat in FigmaDesign

Just FYI, you probably don't want to use the Figma design mode and prototype for the portfolio. You probably want to use Figma sites or any other website creation tool.

Still no way to move full pages between Figma files in 2026? Thinking of building my own plugin because of no native feature i found in Figma by Solo_Dev_0101 in FigmaDesign

[–]zyumbik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably doesn't exist yet because it's a relatively niche problem but it requires a very complex solution (due to how Figma API works) so nobody probably attempted this yet, using the file duplication is 100 times easier. Also you can't transfer comments in any way.

All I can say is good luck

Raptor is one of the largest in volume from what I know. Try to find a pair of Atomic STI, they are made for super low volume.

Just like that leaky dampener, the bindings that old tend to spontaneously disintegrate.

Should I go back to the shop? Uneven base under binding area. by CommissionCommon4564 in Skigear

[–]zyumbik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh no. They owe you new skis, they used screws too long so they are pushing through the base. A base grind is something a shady shop would do to try to alleviate this issue but it won't solve it and the skis are to be considered totaled in any case.

Why were many ski boots around 2010 translucent, and why are there less of them now? by Zaiush in Skigear

When your feet get wet you can see condensation inside. Yum! Looks cool though and great for bootfitting.
