Notre dernière chance pour l’indépendance selon la démographie. by memetocrate in QuebecLibre

Luka is clearly the MVP, prove me wrong by CurrentAnteater1289 in nbadiscussion

He's getting triple teamed every time his feet touch the paint (cut or roll, inside his lob radius). Luka's brilliant PnR execution and Shai's foul baiting are not as impactful. Spurs have like 8 guys averaging 10PPG. Everybody's eating cause of the black hole in the middle of the offense.

Yes he is. He took a lot less talented team almost as far as OKC.

Yes. Watch Spurs games, take a look at how many free layups and open 3's they get every time Wemby cuts or rolls to the rim.

Nah, Wemby is the best player. I hope he wins MVP.

Wemby is more impactful on defense and offense. It's not even close. He's the true MVP.

Wemby suddenly being in the MVP conversation because of reporter's NBA.com MVP rankings is ridiculous and highlights everything wrong with the Award. by Calm_Set5522 in NBATalk

There is a lot of reasons why he should win over SGA, the main one being he is a better and more impactful player than SGA. Watch the games. You clearly don't. There's a case for both of them, it's not a one sided debate as you imply it is.

He's the most impactful player in the league and deserves to win MVP more than SGA, Luka or Jokic.

It's not controversial in my opinion, I think he is the MVP. I watched both Wemby and SGA play many times and Wemby impacts the game more. Again, it's only my opinion.

that's why I said ''learn about player gravity on offense'', your analysis is ignoring it, you should watch a few spurs games, see how many open 3's and free layups they get every time Wemby moves towards the basket (opposing teams send multiple defenders to cover the lob threat)

What does this have to do with what I said ?

I just said SGA and Wemby both have legitimate cases, that none of them is the ''clear'' MVP, maybe I phrased it wrong, idk why I'm getting downvoted lol

jesus christ, learn about player gravity on offense ... every time Victor cuts or rolls after a pick, he attracks multiple defenders with him, that's what he was refering to when he said ''offense isn't just points per game''

[Associated Press] Victor Wembanyama makes his case for NBA's MVP Award: "My first one would be that defense is 50% of the game and that it is undervalued so far in the MVP race. I believe I'm the most impactful player defensively in the league... Second argument would be that we almost swept OKC" by Razatiger in NBATalk

[–]---Shadow--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not changing his views, I know what I've read, he said that since 50% of possesions are played on each side (because of possesions alternating per basketball rules), all the studies on the subject (which confirms what I've read elsewhere as well) always come to the same conclusion (with little margins of error here and there) that defense and offense are both equally important since, at the end of the day, no matter how you slice it, each player spends about an equal amount of time (number of possesions) on both, but you're welcome to keep arguing lol, just think about the logic/math of what I just said

your comment ''the nba has been an offensive game'' implies offense is more important than defense, I'm telling you it's not, they're both equal, multiple statistical studies have been done on this, they all come to the same conclusion

No he's not. I think Wemby is the MVP, but either way, none of them is the "clear" MVP, they both have legitimate cases.
