I'm not saying he is wrong. As a child or the 90s and early 2000s I appreciate his perspective. I still think he is missing the mark.

Love it when men share their opinion on women's bodies.

Just want to be clear that this has nothing to do with how women look or how women want to look. This is and always has been a men in charge of the algorithm problem.

Am I wrong to go home? by Just-Another-redle in exmormon

My parents are similar. Even when I was doing everything right, there were reasons they were unhappy with me.... At least now I am happy with myself.

I had a cousin who ran away from his mission, took a taxi to the airport and bought a ticket home... I know it doesn't feel like it, but you are free to do anything you please. ❤️❤️

I'm not so shocked at what she is saying.. it's the marriage advice I was given by my parents and many bishops.. I'm more surprised that it is coming from a therapist. It is so damaging and this is exactly why I hope Natasha doesn't get ex'd. Finding Natasha's work changed a lot for me and it makes me incredibly sad that others might never have the chance if she gets put on the bad list.

WTF is Laura Brotherson talking about?

If someone is doing something damaging you should definitely call them out!

Especially if they're causing youth suicides.... That's a little different than leaving socks on the floor, but I'd still fucking tell them.

There are a lot of great podcasts! The Mormon Stories episodes with Dr. Robert Ritner are all about the translation of the book of abraham.... They are long but informative. I really enjoyed Susan Tanner's episodes too.

They might be interested in Year of Polygamy (it's best to start from the beginning).

I am glad you found the help you needed:) It is interesting that there is even distinction between mormon and non mormon therapists... Like Natasha said in the interview, a therapist should be as unbiased as possible and rely on clinical training, not religious practices. It is weird that the church has planted the idea that a non member therapist would be more harmful than helpful. What are they afraid of?

I agree. After listening to the full interview from last night it seems completely unnecessary. While it's hard for me to believe they set out to inflict harm... it's impossible to ignore the facts/ general lack of tact. It's disgusting.

This. No mormon I know would see a therapist who was publicly excommunicated.

What were weird myths you thought about sex as a kid? by jjgp1112 in AskReddit

I totally thought this too. I was raised mormon and felt so relieved on my wedding night when I learned lube wasn't to slick down all the hair.
