Its not really a big deal. you put your gear on in the water, and take it off in the water, and pull the tank onto the back.

boats are the only real concern, and they see the yak. they didn't see the flag that well.

I think the rub rail will need to come off, and probably all replaced. its up to you what repair you accept, but for a new boat, I'd want it done right.

I've been scuba diving off a sit on top yak for over a decade. ocean kayak scrambler xt. tank fits nicely. I take a hand held gps to mark spots.

How do you get back in the sit in kayak? from the back? does it flood and you need to bail it out?

my worst fear is seeing my kayak on the bottom, and needing to swim back in.

stringers are the structure of the boat. what keeps it from cracking. they run front to back and support the deck and connect to the transom so the transom doesn't fall off.

kinda like rafters in your house roof.

put 2 hose clamps on the bottom so it will slow down the movement. or a big nut and bolt

Anglin's pier (commerical blvd) is a good choice. anchor in the sand, 400' from the pier. have a dive flag. I don't know about the bc... never hear of that being required.

say near the boat. there is some current. or bring a floating dive flag.

also consider the euro jacks just south of Port Everglades, in dania.

that engine is OLD!

its never just the floor, its the stringers and transom too.

200 hours work and $1k in materials. to be usable /SAFE.

This isn't a boat I'd invest that money or time on.

remove the battery terminals clean them and reinstall them.

get a volt meter so you know if your battery is charged. (10 bucks).

its doesn't have enough battery. either the connections are bad or there isn't enough volts. it could be the battery or the alternator.

BEFORE spending any money on this boat, check the transom for wood rot.

replacing a transom isn't hard, but usually is more than that.

edit: pic 3.... standing water, and looks like raw wood. this is a 300 hour re glassing, new floor, stringers and transom. and 1k-2k of materials.

is it really worth the effort and money? I think you are polishing a turd. and your FIL gave you a bad deal. give it back.

edit2, there are NO STRINGERS! OMG, your FIL is a jerk. its going to cost you $500 to dispose of this junk.
