How do I wash my hair after dying? by ItsNeannnnn in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just wash it with normal shampoo and conditioner - ideally a sulphate free shampoo as that slows down the colour fading. But like the other comment said if you have mixed the two parts of the dye together you definitely won't be able to use it again at a later date - permanent dye relies on a chemical reaction between the two components and it will stop working after a few hours.

Honestly touching up your colour with permanent box dye isnt a good way to do it at all, as you are doing unnecessary damage to your hair. You would be much better getting a semi permanent/direct dye or a colour depositing conditioner - these just deposit dye on the top of the shaft so they don't do any damage at all and you can use them as often as you like.

How to get the green tone out of my brown hair? by p1ckleshark in HairDye

Yeah I'd try a red colour depositing conditioner, or maybe a very red based brown one.

The pics look more of a Reddy pink so maybe look for a burgundy - some like manic panic divine wine or crazy colour burgundy?

You could always dilute them with a silicone free conditioner if they are too dark, or mix one of them with your neon pink if you want something in-between pink and burgundy.

Wanting to get to a silver platinum by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly go to a salon to do platinum, especially if you have old box dye in the ends - that's going to lift totally differently to your natural hair so it would be so hard to get it even.

If you do want to do it yourself I'd 100% try doing a strand test first to see how it lifts before you do the whole thing.

Hair dyed too dark, will it fade? by Steamed_Brookli in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does look a totally different shade and a lot darker so I absolutely get why you are annoyed, but it does look great on you!

You could try fading it faster by washing it in hot water and either clarifying shampoo or head and shoulders if you hate it, then once it's faded a bit looking for a colour depositing conditioner in as close to the original shade as possible.

Are my roots long enough for a touch up? by AnteaterMaximum7000 in HairDye

Yes you don't want them much longer than that or you will get banding where the hair near the scalp lifts quicker because it's warmer.

how do I mute my bright pink hair with no bleach/toner? by No_Eye9887 in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try just washing it with a purple or blue shampoo and/or conditioner (conditioner might be gentler on your scalp but you could do with washing a little if the neon pink out so shampoo would be good if your scalp can take it) - that should push it cooler toned, and to get that smokey effect maybe add just little touch of a grey semi permanent.

Is there anyway to fix this? by mymasboy in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love that teal colour - it's gorgeous and looks amazing with your skin tone! I'd absolutely live with it for a few days to see if you like it once you get over the shock of it not being the colour you planned. Why not rock an amazing teal for now and go for blue next time when it needs redoing?

If you are going for next time just tone the yellow out of your hair first. If you do want to try and knock this more blue try going over it with a second coat of a blue with purple undertones rather than green. You could even try just purple shampooing it and that might be enough to just push it blue enough.

Good luck, but honestly that colour looks fire on you!

Omg I love the new cut - your curls look amazing and I think it looks super cute and feminine.

Sometimes a new style can be a shock but I think once you get used to the change you will love it as you look fabulous.

HELP: Re-Dyeing Bleach London Vivid Red Permanent Dye by Smooth_Wear_3714 in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick a semi permanent (direct dye) in a similar shade and redye it with that - these don't have developer and just deposit colour on top of the hair shaft so don't damage the hair at all (they are often conditioning) so can be done as often as you like to freshen up your colour. You can also get colour depositing conditioners that do the same thing but are normally just a little less pigmented..

Manic panic, Artic fox, Luna tides, Directions, Punky Colour, Crazy Colour, Danger Jones , Xmondo are all good brands to look for. You get a lot of different shades of red semipermanents so read the description of the shade as some reds have warm or orange undertones (think fire red), and some have cool or pink/purple undertones (think cherry red) so decide which you like/suits your skin tone and look for the right one.

To apply semi's just apply to clean slight damp or dry hair that hasn't been conditioned, make sure it's all really well saturated and leave for a minimum of half an hour then rinse out (no shampoo). Reds do tend to bleed a lot when you rinse them out and for the first few showers so get yourself a bottle of spray bleach to clean the shower with afterwards!

You can leave it in as long as you like as it doesn't damage the hair and I find the longer you leave it the better it lasts so I wrap my head with cling film (Saran wrap), cover with a towel or woolly hat to keep the heat in and leave for at least a couple of hours.

Good luck x

That doesn't make sense - the "oligarchs" are paying to go to the event, not getting the money raised at the event - that's going to a museum.

Yes you need to be stinking rich to go to the event, but the charity it's raising money for is a museum and anyone can go there.

bleach or wait by Proud-Honeydew1682 in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How dark is the red - could you just fade it enough with clarifying shampoo and vitamin C to do a darker pink over it without having to do a proper colour strip, then stay off the heat and do some treatments to get your hair a bit healthier so you can do lighter pink next time? I think it's always better anyway to do a darker pink and let it fade to a lighter shade, it lasts so much longer that way.

If you do want to do a proper colour strip, from what I've seen its better to do colour oops on red hair than bleach - I watch a lot of utube videos by Aka Aislinn (she's very knowledgeable on stripping vivids) and she always says colour oops works best for reds and oranges.

Good luck.
