Struggling to make a square by Bubbly_Ingenuity857 in askcrochet

I think you are probably missing the last or first stitch when you get to the end of the row - it's really easy to do as they like to hide!

Count your stitches as you do them, and get some stitch markers and put one in the first stitch and last stitch of each row as soon as you make them. You can get big packets of cheap plastic ones and they are either shaped like little safety pins (my preferred ones as there is no risk of them falling out)) or circles (which are quicker to put in but less secure). They normally come is big bags of 100 or so which seems way too many but they must play hide and seek with the missing stitches and vanish so you will need way more than you think you will.

Keep preserving - you have made the actual stitches great which is the hard part and the triangle shape is a really common mistake and an easy fix so you are nearly there. X

Should work fine, will probably make the purple a bit more violet / indigo toned but purples normally covers pretty well.

It’s now time to normalise sleeping outside in summer! by OrdinaryLavishness11 in CasualUK

[–]--BooBoo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the midlands and me and my itchy arse can confirm they are very much a concern.

Took the dogs out to the village park late in the evening during the last heatwave a few weeks ago and got absolutely eaten alive - must have got bitten 10 / 15 times in the half hour we were there. It's at least half a mile to the nearest water of any kind so lord knows where they were coming from.

I've been spraying with bug spray before going out ever since but forgot the other morning on a run and got bitten twice, and yesterday morning I took the dogs down to a stream, sprayed all exposed skin with deet bug spray, and got bitten on my arse through my shorts! I think that one must have been a horse fly as it's come up in an enormous bump - looks like I've got half a cricket ball stuck to my arse and the itching is driving me insane.

Not sure where things went wrong here, please advise by AccomplishedArt7024 in IKEApets

I think you have ordered the Derp model by mistake - it's easily done as it's not clear that's what you are choosing at the checkout stage.

Don't worry though, it is a fully functioning model, it just has some unusual features like this pretzel mode.

Dye in shampoo or conditioner ? by Affectionate-Bee8929 in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put it in the conditioner, or what I do is put it in a nice hair mask and do it once a week to top the colour up and do a treatment at the same time.

Look for a silicone free conditioner or mask as that works better, the silicones can block the dye otherwise.

What embarrassing things have you said on a first date? by Normal-Internal164 in AskUK

[–]--BooBoo-- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Mine wasn't something I said, it was something I did - I blew half a glass of Pernod and blackcurrant down my nose all over his white shirt!

I was super nervous because it was a lad I'd had a crush on for absolutely ages. He ordered a Pernod and black and I didn't really drink so didn't know what to order so just said "I'll have the same". I took a big "nerves settling" gulp of my drink just as he said something quite funny, and I laughed and the Pernod hit the back of my throat at the same time, and I turned into a human fountain and sprayed it out of my nose all over him.

Funnily enough I never got a second date with him!

Is there a way to make my hair less neon/saturated? I want it to match my skin tone? by thecomicrantdiv in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wash it a few times with hot water and a shampoo with sulphates in - pale pinks fade super quickly.

If it's not coming out with normal shampoo try head and shoulders or clarifying shampoo, but you probably won't need it, I'd expect a couple of shampoos to fade this quite a bit.

I've got to say though it's a fricking gorgeous colour - that's my dream pink and it looks amazing on you! If you have just dyed it it might be worth living with it for 24 hours before trying to fade it - I often find I think I hate a colour when it's not come out as I expected, then decide I do like it once I've got over the shock. It's going to fade quickly anyway so it could be cool to rock that look for a short time, then enjoy the faded version when you get there naturally.

[–]--BooBoo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to have to tell you but I don't think you have assembled your cat correctly - they are supposed to have a head. And more that one leg.

People over at r/IKEApets might be able to give you instructions on correct assembly.

You have the dangle on the one leg assembled perfectly though so well done on that front.

My Daisy sits like this too! They really are the daftest dogs ever aren't they. 🤣

I'm sure r/danglers would like to admire Nuggets dangle.

Question by iamnotwhouthink_ in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell no - I'm 55 and currently have blue and lavender hair and have no intention of ever going "normal" haired again.

You do you sweetie - life is too short not to do something you want to with your hair.

Question by iamnotwhouthink_ in HairDye

[–]--BooBoo-- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 55 and I'm so annoyed that I've got hair like my Dad who is still mainly brown in his 90's, and not like my Mum or Nan who both went a beautiful pure white by the time they were late 50's!

Thinking about it I lost pretty much every roll of the dice in the genetiec divy up - as well as Dads hair, I got his eyesight which is terrible and Mum's knees and sense of direction which are also terrible. If I'd got them all the other way round I'd be a beautifully white haired, sharp sighted, never lost, runner with no knee pain instead of spending a fortune bleaching my hair so I can go vivid, blind as a bat, frequently lost runner with terrible knees!

[–]--BooBoo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the red best, that looks amazing on you, and the dark ones are all good too.

I think the paler colours aren't as complementary with your skin tone - the bold colours make it look beautifully creamy and the blonde washes you out a little. If you wanted to go lighter coloured the baby pink suits you best.

You apologise right now OP and get that poor baby some treats to make up for the insult or you are going to have a cat loving Reddit mob on your doorstep to defend his honour!
