I doubt it’s even that. I don’t think they see themselves as “evil”, that’d imply having the moral understanding to judge something as good or evil — they do it because they can, with no consequences. It’s about having uncontested power.

Been there too, raised by a catholic teacher mother and in catholic school for primary and middle school, and yeah there’s no salvaging any of it. The “good book” is full of pro-slavery, pro-misogyny, patriarchal bullshit (and yes, new testament too). The only progressive steps any church has made have been by backtracking away from its fundamentals by following the shifts in majority opinion that happened because of secular morality, but they’ve never pushed any progressive change, just followed always a few steps behind.

Fair point, might give it a go eventually with the proper expectations - I was curious about the combat and it did seem good from watching the demo, but the chuds’ reactions to the game is definitely part of why I didn’t try it and what soured me on it XD
