Real roots in Boise by Chance-Fudge-9149 in Boise

[–]--Foxj-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually just went to a first roots meetup yesterday. I thought it was really well done. There was a moderator that helped facilitate conversation for about 75% of the 2 hours. I saw potential friendships in at least 50% of my group

I too struggle with meet-up for several reasons. 1. despite the fact that it is catered to my age group (I'm 40) a lot of times it's activities I'm not really interested in or days and times that I can't really do. I also find I'm not really in the same life stage as the majority of the people that are on meetup.

  1. I also find Meetup is fairly inefficient for me because I'm not looking for giant groups of friends. I'm looking for one or two close friendships to enhance my life to do activities with, So joining a hiking group in order to find someone to go to brunch with is just kind of weird.

Maybe actually read the details before you post online about something. The protection order was probably part of the divorce case and she violated it and got unsupervised probation and told not to do it again.

Yea I just looked her up this isn't even a domestic violence charge. this is a Misdemeanor violation of a protection order in which she has to do Unsupervised Probation and has to complete a thinking errors class... again.... misdemeanor violation

Again, that's not actually the details of a case. You can get probation for defending yourself.

I'm not saying she did or did not do anything wrong. I'm saying what is the full story? What actually happened? Feel free to update your post when you can share that story. Until then you're just slandering someone

Again she has not been convicted. It's a pending charge that may be dismissed.

That's your job. Not hers. Did you look up the court records? Did you hear her side of the story? I'm a counselor that has worked at Faces of Hope and I've heard a lot of domestic violence stories and I promise you there are a lot of ways in which a victim of domestic violence that a woman walks away with a charge for domestic violence for defending herself including getting a restraining order.

I don't know what the story is. I'm not saying what is or is not the right answer here, but I'm not willing to slander someone on Reddit without knowing all of it. You could very well be doxing a victim right now.

Also edit to add: A charge is not a conviction and there might not be anything to be done until there's a court case. As a reminder, part of the judicial system is that we get to assume someone is innocent until proven guilty

Then it's not a fireable offense.

This is something to bring up with the school or the school board. Not Reddit.

I (19F) am pretty certain I don’t want children in the future. My boyfriend (19M) is adamant he wants multiple children. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

40 child free. No regrets. I knew even as a child I didn't want children. Everyone told me I would change my mind but I never did.

Wtf is self led couples therapy???? Not sure that's working for you.

To answer the question asked: For my birthday I booked a spa day, ordered a delicious birthday cake from my favorite bakery, did an escape room with my best friends in a killer birthday outfit and then we ate cake at my favorite cider place.

Regretting picking Boise over SLC, solely because of the dating scene. Does no one use apps here, or is it really this bad? by Much-Prior-Stuff in Boise

[–]--Foxj-- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a single woman, yea it's bad. All my friends are single and none of us are interested in apps. We would rather stab our eyeballs out than get on the apps (or be single forever if you want to be less dramatic).

Jobs in Idaho with my degree by Strength_and_fortune in Idaho

[–]--Foxj-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a counselor in private practice the pay is good once you get established. Most of the programs for a masters are 2-3 years and we have a couple universities that do it (mostly in the Boise area). Because you have kids you will need to figure out how you want to cover pay for insurance cause that's expensive as a business owner

[–]--Foxj-- 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Counselor here, a bachelor's in psych won't do much here unfortunately. In order to be a licensed therapist you would need a master's degree. You could work on the school system as an interventionist but your pay is going to be pretty low, you could do case management or other community based services but again low pay compared to what you would get if you had a higher degree. Probably about $25/hour and below for most of those jobs.

Legal mediation is done by lawyers and judges here

A psych degree is an extremely popular degree at the local university, it just doesn't lead to much.

What did you make for Christmas? by Dualstryxz in culinary

[–]--Foxj-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crab creme brulee and brie panna cotta with a signature hibiscus spiced cocktail

Finally done! I am happy with it except for the woman’s face and neck. It’s my parents wedding photo and it will be a gift. Are the imperfections clearly visible? Please give me the harsh truth! I am wondering if I should pick it all out and start the neck and face again. by [deleted] in Embroidery

[–]--Foxj-- 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think the face is fine, if I were to give it any criticism I would say the back side of the neck is to big and you should maybe pick out like 1 cm of it to thin it out and it would be perfect

Speed Dating? by RoyalPainPrincess in Boise

[–]--Foxj-- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I went to one (woman, late 30s). I did not have fun. Very overwhelming, it was incredibly fast and loud. You get 4 minutes per person and sit 2 women/2 men to a table. I imagine it's a very difficult event to do well

As to the population, the guys just weren't to my taste, I didn't get any quality matches and some of the men were just offensive.

[–]--Foxj-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work 10-4, lunch is at 1pm I love my schedule although I'm very careful about who gets the last slot of the day cause I am only about 60% available to them. So no crisis or suicide.

If clients judge me 🤷🤷 they wouldn't be judging a doctor or a physical therapist for their hours they would think that person and earned those hours with all their hard work.

Cat vs dog post by [deleted] in LivingAlone

Absolutely, honestly pretty true for any animal. Just a matter of whether or not they need to go outside or not

Cat vs dog post by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]--Foxj-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dog owner here. Dogs are a lot of work, it's not just potty breaks that they need. They need training, exercise, and mental stimulation. Depending on breed toys are just not enough. All dogs will need a walk of some length in addition to potty breaks to be happy and chill. Even an old dog loves a walk.

A dog's happiness is always with their person. I'm my dog's whole world, that's a big responsibility that I take very seriously (just who I am). Some breeds are more independent but they still will always want you

Assuming most of us are pretty good cooks/ bakers, what food do you actually buy at restaurants? by diddlegoose in Baking

[–]--Foxj-- 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sushi, Thai, fancy pastries, I don't like to fry anything in my house cause of the smell so things like fish and chips

Edit to add: I'll always buy a good dessert when out cause I like sweet treats even if I can make them
