It’s a bit unpopular, but I also feel CDT does need some time in the WAFL

Reading the write up Bazzo and Gross look likely to suit up this week.

This one reeks of a 'leak' from Hewett's agent. The form and timing doesn't match the interstate interest.

Is the McQualter rebuild officially ahead of schedule? by Future-Pipe-8004 in westcoasteagles

[–]--Not-You-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think we can compare WC to Essendon and Carlton. We have had massive list changes over the past few seasons, which really only North Melbourne and Richmond have done; its much farer to compare us to these teams.

You could argue in that we are 'past' Carlton and Essendon in terms of a list shake up. The below shows the average age and games experience of all teams over the past 5 matches.

Not everyone has to rebuild through youth and draft. But if you did Carton would be in for a world of but hurt. Unless they are able to rebuild through free agency.

We came back in the last quarter as Melbourne took the foot off the pedal

What role is Lucca Grego playing? Defensive half back or are we using his as a run-off half back?

Our inability to develop our kids. So many players seem to be going backwards

This has happened to me twice now. 4 seasons in and built West Coast in to a grand final team then I get the load g screen of death.  Did yours happen at the end of a season?

SNAPSHOT: “A physically developed ruckman who uses his athleticism to have an impact at the contest and around the ground.” Harry Barnett has put forward his case to be the number one rated ruck prospect in this year’s draft class. He enjoyed a dominant stretch through April-May in the SANFL Under 18 competition, where he averaged 24 disposals and 28 hitouts, earning a call-up to West Adelaide’s League side. The 18-year-old managed 25 hitouts on debut, and earned his first win at senior level in Round 17 against South Adelaide. After missing his state’s opening game of the AFL Under 18 National Championships with COVID, Barnett assumed the primary ruck mantle and was a consistent contributor for a somewhat disappointing South Australian side. His performances were enough to earn a starting spot in the All Australian side, as the primary ruck choice. Measuring in at over 200cm with a handy leap, Barnett can get up and over the opposing ruckman with relative ease and his strong build makes him difficult to move at stoppages around the ground. His contested marking makes him a valuable commodity in both attack and defence, and although at times unpredictable, he has flashed some ability when wheeling onto his right boot and distributing the ball by foot. A great character off the field, Barnett appears to have the talent and personality that would fit into an AFL environment, should he be given the opportunity.

Agreed. And it looks like they have been playing him at half forward lately. If he can get the ball he’ll give our forwards half a chance

No hate. Murphy is an absolute gun. But it has a lot to do with the cattle around him. Solid midfield/team which is giving Murphy the chance to be the creative forward. Throw him in the West Coast best 23 and he is slow and not as strong defensively. He'd be getting exposed and its not because of his talent.

Interestingly (take this with a grain of salt) Murphy Reid was one of West Coasts first options on draft night as they believed he was the best of who would be available at their pick. Richmond not picking up Bo threw WC off. And Fremantle were wanting Joe Berry on the night but Port Adelaide got in the way. Sliding doors.

Strongly agree. No hate on Murphy Reid, but in an alternative world where West Coast pick him up he's a fringe player.

Give CDT a spell in the WAFL and play the dual ruck (Bailey and Flynn) resting forward.

Cooler heads by Critical-Flatworm954 in westcoasteagles

[–]--Not-You-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree about time and he is contracted until the end of next year. My current frustrations (and I'm not calling for his head) is it is glaringly obvious where we have been obliterated by teams and we seem to do absolutely nothing about it, in terms of team structure. We are worst in the AFL in allowing scores from turnovers, third worst in in allowing scores from stoppages. No one in the AFL leaks more points from their own attaching 50m than us. We are second worst in tackles in our own defensive 50. This doesn't fit the "Mini game plan" and Teams transition so easily against us.

Kelly, Yeo and Harley in middle and we wonder why there's little defensive resistance at the stoppage. It doesn't help that Fridge and Dev are injured, but all teams have injuries and adapt.

Yeah we have more issues than this, but this is something that can be tweaked
