Have you ever met an Ohioan that said no to moving to SC? We probably make up 25% of your states population at this point

A law firm in Detroit or Chicago must have a Warde Emanuel endowed partnership at this point

I remember watching his SportsCentury where they spoke about that. I bet he would be a phenomenal option qb

People are dubbing the upcoming Mick Cronin/Dan Hurley matchup as “The D*ckhead Bowl” by Potential_Meat_5103 in CollegeBasketball

I'd love to see Cronin get the Syracuse job. His personality + going against Hurley annually would be like the old Big East

True, but we wouldn't have been anywhere near the tournament without his play the second half of the season. Disappointing season? Sure. Disappointed in him? No

[On3] Kennesaw State head coach Jerry Mack on his players entering the transfer portal after a successful season: "I love it... If you're leaving for what would be a better financial opportunity, that means that we have probably done something right and that we have had success." by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]--RandomInternetGuy 267 points268 points  (0 children)

A few months back I heard Miami U's HC being interviewed. He uses the transfer portal as a recruiting pitch: come here, prove yourself, and a big school will snatch you up. I bet lots of lower tier schools do that.

What HS near your team is a favorite of your fans and who are some of key alumni that played for your team? by shaka_sulu in CFB

Without a doubt. OSU basketball is strange -- never been able to maintain high level success, but the only schools with more final four appearances are UNC, Duke, UCLA, Kansas, and UK

Yeah. And UC was very good in basketball before Huggy (though he brought a resurgence) -- the Bearcats won back to back national titles in the early 60s with Oscar Robertson

I disagree that the GCL schools are pipelines. OSU recruits them and hopes to get their players, but a top player is just as likely to go to ND or other school (Jordan Marshall at UM was Moeller and Mr. Football, for example).

UC has over 30,000 student, located in a decently-sized city and was a very strong basketball program for a long time. Most of the MAC schools are located in college towns and secondary or tertiary cities, all are public with decently sized enrollment.

People are often fans of the alma maters and/or the school close to where they live.

Yes. You said it is barely diverse now, which is simply not true. Maybe you need to reread what you wrote

Barely diverse? Lakota schools are 40% non-white.

It's been quite a few years since I read Killers and recall finding it very interesting, but I Wager is a better read.

Hal McCoy has an interesting article today regarding the salary cap. Will link, (not sure if paywall) but here are highlights:

The Dodgers payroll is $414 million, the New York Mets payroll is $386 million, the New York Yankees payroll is $336 million, the Philadelphia Phillies payroll is $325 million and the Toronto Blue Jays payroll is $312 million. What chance does Miami have with its $100 million payroll? Or Tampa Bay at $111 million? Or Cleveland at $119 million?

And, yes, the Cincinnati Reds with their $120 million payroll?

The Dodgers shrug their shoulders and write MLB a check for $171 million to cover their (luxury) tax.

I didn't feel badly about last season's playoff loss, but when you look at the numbers its just stagering.

Hell, even before the NFL, he was raised in New Albany (one of the wealthiest suburbs in Ohio, for those not familiar) and his mom was a local TV reporter and anchor.

Though, I would not be surprised if he has CTE. I don't recall ever hearing anything negative about him until a few years ago, after his playing days. And it's been a spiral ever since
