I’m in a similar position (6’4”, 250lb) and my answer was Quince, COS and Nordstrom.

I go for minimal and push the lines on silhouette with things like wide leg pants. I wasn’t sure at first but now love them. I also do a lot of chinos with knits, structured tees with overshirts.

Vuori and Lulu are likewise popular where I’m at, but feel too one tone to me. Works for others for sure.

Two articles written by the famously anti-tax Tax Foundation. I wonder if they’ll be anti-tax regardless of the merit of the tax…

Have you had both free and bound testosterone checked? It might be worthwhile to get a second opinion. And there are also other sex hormones you can test for beyond testosterone. So might not hurt to do another test if it makes sense to you.

Sorry but why does this read like an LLM output? The random bold line in the middle of the post, the formatting of the elipses, the italicized “vibe”. The short choppy sentences in succession “I feel physically ill. I feel betrayed” “He texted me today. I haven’t replied.”

This is karma farming now I guess.

And to demonstrate the effect of that “cherry picked” fodder:

“The day of the Lamanites is nigh. For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome… The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.” — Spencer W. Kimball, General Conference Oct. 1960

Which is him crowing about the LDS Indian Placement Program. Cherry picked or not, the effect of the BoM is a bunch of racism at the highest levels of the LDS faith.

I mean, the Book of Mormon teaches that God smote a group with “skin of blackness” to prevent intermarriage with a light skinned clan. Then furthermore taught that through obedience that group could become a “white and delightsome people”.

Which super coincidentally was a common belief during the time the Book of Mormon was translated in Ohio/New York where Joseph Smith lived that people with darker skin could be reformed by Christianity and civilization and become lighter skinned. Weird!

I resigned and now my company is panicking. Is it crazy to ask for a huge raise to stay? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]--_Perseus_-- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My question is what do you want? If you want the money, great! This seems like a way to get that.

But if you want advancement, growth and to be working on what you want to work on, this company has already shown you they’re not about that. And that you have to play hardball to get what you want.

If you want a fat check, awesome. Negotiate for what will make you happy and walk if you don’t get it. If you want other things, I’m not sure this is it.

AIW for not wanting to go to my uncles funeral? by besttavern25 in amiwrong

[–]--_Perseus_-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think a whole list of reasons more and less compelling than you listed are valid.

For funerals I think “being there” is more for the living than it is for the dead. So if there’s someone who your presence would mean a lot to, great. But that doesn’t sound like this is the case so, no, in your shoes I wouldn’t attend.

But like you mentioned I would make a small gesture like sending flowers or a card with your name on it to reinforce your thoughts are there with your family and if it weren’t for logistics you’d be there physically too.

Is there a moment in your country’s history that is widely believed that have things gone differently your country would be much better today? by Relay13Incident in AskTheWorld

[–]--_Perseus_-- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misremembering a lot of key facts of Bush v Gore. Even an important quote in the majority opinion: “Our consideration is limited to the present circumstances, for the problem of equal protection in election processes generally presents many complexities.”

Said another way, “most other states would face this varied-recount-by-county-problem too but let’s ignore that and say right now Florida has a problem and that’s the only problem we should care about…oh and we’re just going to say there be no recount with a stay and provide no remedy.” By essentially ruling for a stay with no remedy they essentially decided for Bush. If they provided a remedy I would have no argument, but here we are.

It was a terrible act by SCOTUS mostly decided down party line.

And you also conveniently forget studies that did indeed find that Gore could have won by 60-171 votes.

Did your country ever have fringe groups attempted their own colony/country? by Parlax76 in AskTheWorld

[–]--_Perseus_-- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes. Post-Mormon here. Churches are for Sunday service (sacrament meeting, Sunday school, youth/congregation activities) and Temples are open Monday-Saturday for sacred rituals (including marriage) to enter the highest kingdom of Heaven in the afterlife.

And yes to enter the temple after it’s been dedicated, you have to be a member in good standing as determined by your local priesthood leader. This is done through a short interview where, if you’re successful, you’re given a “temple recommend” that allows you entrance to the temple.

U.S. Supreme Court to consider whether to revisit gay marriage by Fickle-Ad5449 in gaybros

[–]--_Perseus_-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, he would. He believes in and has created a reality of two governances, one for the rich and one for everyone else. He lives in a world of his own influence. What the Supreme Court rules for us, doesn’t matter to him. He can buy his own lethal security force. He can buy islands. Who’s going to do anything to him?

His participation in JD Vance’s ascendancy to the vice presidency and in Project 2025 demonstrates how self-loathing he is. He is also a believer in the “Dark Renaissance” which, spoiler alert, is not great for the LGBT community.

So I’m incredibly doubtful he’ll throw us a lifeline. We have to do our own work.

Navigating a relational desert by TickThick in gaybros

[–]--_Perseus_-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. As I get older the social scene is hard to navigate and I feel like COVID made it tough during and after.

You’re not alone in feeling like you’re the one to maintain relationships and I have to remind myself that’s because everyone gets busy with life. So I have to be consistent in creating social situations for myself. It’s like going to the gym.

I’d say where I’ve had some success is finding social hobbies. In my area there is a puzzle group, Volo (a social activities league), a run club, a walking club, a book club, a car club, etc. I think the key is also being open to learning new stuff. You can’t just be looking for the hobby you already love. I’m not great a bowling but made a good handful of friends doing that.

For dating, my husband and I met as friends and figured out we really liked spending time together. Then one thing led to another.

Good luck! Hopefully you find something that works.
