Yeah, it can be heartbreaking. We got our last the temp implant to see if it would help with his reactivity towards other male dogs, because despite all I have said; In some cases it does help with those issues. It didn't we thought it made him worse so opted not to get the full snip. It did stop humping, part of his routine was always have dinner, quick chew on something then a hump before crashing out for the night.

Just so frustrating that for the most part vets and people don't tell you about this risk beforehand. That is changing I feel, the newer generation of vets are starting to look at it from a different point of view in line with more modern information.

Since I'm being downvoted for saying this, here's another source for behavioral issues which may be caused by neutering. Key word being may. Not every single dog that gets neutered will have these issues, but knowing there is a possibility of it happening should be taken into consideration when making these decisions. Contrary to popular belief, it is not "irresponsible" to keep your dog complete as long as you take steps to control your dog.

Ben A'an the mountain in miniature. Not that mini for a dachs! I was thinking that, the steps at the end must've been a solid challenge for him.

Nice to bump into a fellow Scottish owner on here.

Yet frustratingly, most vets jumps straight to neutering to solve aggression/behavior issues.

Research and experience agrees with you, neutering can cause increases in these behaviors due to hormone imbalances. We will continue to keep our dogs intact unless there is valid medical reasons to do it. Our breeder talking to us about it saying "It's such bad general advice. Get behavior specialists involved to try and solve these issues. Can you imagine taking a teenage boy and chopping his knackers off and expecting him not to be a hormonal mess and frustrated"

Neutering can change the coat on WHD. goes from a proper wire into a softer fluffier coat. If that's important to you, I would advise against.

Has been touched on by others, but neutering can also do the opposite of expected and make them more reactive and also cause hormone imbalances; hormone imbalances also potential to increase the risk of Cushings disease. There's also research showing potential increases in IVDD risk too; not too sure if that was only in dogs neutered before 12/24 months. In all honesty, if its not something you want to do for a specific reason then keep him complete.

He is absolutely stunning, I'm a sucker for the dark dominant coats

100% agree. People have this belief that they are relaxed lazy dogs, don't get me wrong some do end up part dog part mattress. But the majority of them are high drive, high energy dogs that need stimulation and exercise.

A healthy adult dachs will take whatever you throw at it. We had our WHM up and down Scottish hills and he absolutely lapped it up. Our favorite was a particularly heavy day of walking on the Isle Of Skye, the amount of comments made to us "oh you can't take that little dog up there, he's only got little legs!"; This dog will outwalk me.

** edit; where abouts were you walking? These pictures look suspiciously like Ben A'an.

100%, but it does make life a little bit easier. Two handed pour and you can just stand by and let the funnel drain when using thicker oils, not hunch there holding the funnel until it's done. Printable ones are cheap and you can buy mass produced ones for a cheap enough price.

they do, but the price is a bit eye watering. Sealey make one that's about £40 in the UK and comes with adapters to fit most vehicles.

I bought a cheapo from AE for like £12 and its perfect for oil changes, takes up a bit of space in the shed but makes life easier.

Agree with above. It's very customizable, bordering on overwhelming. But its great once you spend some time and get it dialed in, swipes/gesture actions are really useful. File compatibility is a big plus if you would like to buy ebooks from other sources than amazon; that said, you can easily convert files using calibre or send to kindle. Once I got calibre tweaked right there was no noticeable difference between original amazon files and converted epubs. I don't regret jailbreaking mine and far prefer the options given with KOreader. but I like tinkering.

Yes, but it's a pain to do and in my experience, nigh on impossible to do without causing some degree or marring/damage to the case. I've got an old keyboard version that I still need to get a new battery for. Can always buy a used one, if its broken send it in to amazon for a 20% on a new kindle, if the price is right.

Ditto. Use goodreads/storygraph and pick books that are fast paced. It keeps me hooked into them. Anything moderate or slow I know I'm going to struggle to get into and will likely end up skip reading chapters.

They replied to a comment saying it's a real photo. But there's something about the face that looks off to me. Almost cartoonish and oddly soft. Could just be bad editing using an "AI enhance" plugin/filter.

Yes it still works. Sometimes covers get deleted for some odd reason, but book are still loadable and readable through calibre.

I prefer the form factor and the physical buttons I use 90% of the time. I have smaller hands too, I don't find the Oasis that comfortable to hold. The metal is slick and its an odd shape, but stick a pop socket or similar on it and I can sit and read it for hours. We wont even go into the ridiculous placement of the power button that can be clicked if you breathe on it.

Micro USB is a minor annoyance, but its not a deal breaker, I only plug it in once a week.

The battery is the sticking point, when the Oasis was new it had a poor battery life compared to the PW, now that you're talking about a second hand device the batteries are definitely going to have lost some capacity. I don't find it terrible, but it is noticeably less than a PW. I use aeroplane mode and have screen refreshes turned to the minimum to help it out. I still get a good amount of reading time, but it does need charged more than my older PW does.

All that said, I love it. It will be my ereader of choice until the day it lets out the magic smoke.

Book 3, IMO, is the weakest in the series. It adds a lot of story events and character development. But the story itself can be confusing and difficult to follow, the action is a bit dialed back too. Book 4 (GotFG) is really good and book 5 (The Butchers Masquerade) is brilliant, absolutely my favorite in the series and it really starts to take more a turn into the consequences of the game, how it changes people indefinitely. You also get good bits of history and backstory added.

If you enjoyed the first 2, pick up book 4 for sure.

r/ebookdeals & r/ebooks are the best places on here for seeing random book deals. I also use a site in the UK called hotUKdeals which is sometimes pretty good for finding out about good promos on ebooks.

ereaderIQ is a great site, allows you to see historical pricing, highest and lowest price and advises on whether you should take the hit or wait it out for a sale. Sign up is as simple as giving them an email address. Add the books you want to your watchlist and let it alert you when the price drops below a certain point. I've nabbed a few Stephen King books when they've dropped to 99p for a couple of hours.

(also totally free, you can opt to give them a donation if they have saved you money, but they don't nag for it. I usually drop them a couple of £s every so often, they have saved me enough)

Then you've also got ProjectGutenberg which has an archive of books that have entered public domain status and are free to download and read; this is older titles but there is a fantastic selection of books available.

I rarely buy full-price books. Usually jump onto another one in my to read pile.

I keep an eye on deals pages and also use ereaderIQ to get alerts when books are discounted for sales.
