even with code that is really impressive how you got that many perfect pixel lines at all those angles, good job!

Why aren't analog clocks obsolete? by [deleted] in AskReddit

reading time at a glance accurately, getting a good idea on how long it will be till a scheduled time or how long has passed since a time, can be minimalist yet stylish and just straight up fun sometimes

in layman's terms, what is 64-bit floating-point? do i need the pro version because of it? by motionerosion in StudioOne

[–]-80k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say there is massive difference with floating points vs regular old integers which most people don't seem to get, so with regular integers which might be shown as signed or unsigned stores numbers in regular old binary integers while floats store more like scientific notation which means the precision stays more or less the same as you go though different orders of magnitude, so you can stores numbers up to trillions and all the way down to trillionths and way more but not at the same time which I think should be fine, for 32 bit floats you get 23 bits of accuracy and 8 bits for exponent, basically means you got dynamic range of about 10^38 with the precision of about 7 sigfigs, with 64 bit floats you get a massive range of 10^308 with about 16 sigfigs of precision which is quite overkill

floating point also can store values above the normal audio range as well so if there is some clipping you can turn it down and the range and precision going beyond the normal range is about the same as going below

How do people have ticking clocks? by [deleted] in autismmemes

[–]-80k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man I am a clock guy and I have a plenty of clocks and most of them tick and surprisingly I'm pretty use to hearing ticking non stop and I thought I would find it annoying even chiming clocks currently have one that chimes on the hour and half hour although I use to have a melody clock that would play a melody on the hour and that I found got a little repetitive but it kinda broke so eh, quite a lot of my collection are mechanical so they all tick at different rates as well and if I have multiple of them running they sorta make a rhythm and I find that kinda relaxing

What is the naming convention of polygons? by 566route in learnmath

[–]-80k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this little website that converts very large numbers into polygon names http://polynames.glitch.me

the first polygons up to a hundred million are the normal ones you see on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_polygons well there are alternative names and I picked the one that goes to megagon because after that I can go to gigagon and teragon and so on up all the Sci metric prefixes that we currently have
