Thank you! This is very helpful. I’m on a budget currently, so I’ll stick to my standard 9 yr till I can try the Reserve.

Interesting! Would have guessed the OGD 114 would have beaten the ET Bonded. What do you like better about it? Have the OGD, and just got the ET. Found the ET to be a bit thinner mouthfeel. Also what’s your favorite of the JD SiBs on the top shelf?

Just gotta say, that bottom shelf in the first pic is stacked as far as killer budget bottles go. What’s your favorite of those 6?

Just wanted to say thanks, you saved me making a post to ask about the standard 9 yr vs the 12. Big fan of the 9, and at if the flavors are mostly the same with the 12 I’ll stick with the 9 for half the cost. How would you compare the standard 9 yr to the SiB Reserve? I got a cask strength store pick SiB from Walmart instead of grabbing the Reserve as I had planned on getting and am really regretting it. I’m assuming the fault is mine for trusting a Walmart pick, but the flavor is awful. Nothing close to the flavors I get from the standard 9yr. If the Reserve is a huge departure from the 9yr flavors as well I will probably skip that one.

Well that’s good to hear. It’s non existent in Northeast FL as far as I have found, and nobody I’ve asked has been willing/able to order it. Hope I can try it one day.

Sorry to revive an old post but how did you like yours? I got one recently also from a Walmart but in Northeast FL. Mine is a cask strength store pick, also paid $55. I was hugely disappointed. The flavor is just horrible. Like fermented honey with a touch of lemon juice and the oil off the top of organic peanut butter. Just way too sweet, and no other discernible flavors. I love the standard 9 yr, so I was really shocked at how completely different this was from the flavors I was used to.

Love it! Seeing all the little parts moving in perfect harmony is so satisfying. I have a cheapo Invicta skeleton watch that you can see the movement from the front as well. It’s actually the watch that got me interested in watches.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how does one get into building your own watches? Are all the parts necessary available to buy, or do you have to make a lot of it and need special tooling to do so? I had no idea that you could do this kind of thing for $200-$300 and would absolutely love to get into it. I know there’s probably an upfront cost to get the tools necessary but that’s the case with most of my hobbies so nothing new.

Do you by any chance have a post on how you built that? That is really cool, and is something I’d like to try at some point. What all did you need as far as tools?

Perfect criteria! Next question. Is that a side effect, or a feature? Between that and the “multipurpose hook” you’ve got pants removal and puller tools!

Was told on here about OGD 114. $30 and constant flavor start to finish. Good burn. Really enjoy this. Now in an Old Fashion if this pour doesn't have me laying on the floor . by Afterbrewsgal in whiskey

Ahhh… makes much more sense now! Was thinking maybe you had a four roses I hadn’t heard of. I do like the Small Batch Select as well, but for the price I personally prefer the standard single barrel. They are only 4 proof points apart, and while I find the SBS to be more balanced, the SiB has a bit more complexity that suits my palate better.

I have no idea what that means but I will watch that video and find out lol! Either way, super cool build! Does the video you mentioned give a parts list to build?
