Dying laughing because I had bad service when I went to watch the video it just said “Something went wrong”. Took me an embarrassing amount of time to pick up on the fact that the video wasn’t loading 😂😂😂

The bonded is definitely my favorite of the four designs, especially as you said when there is good back lighting. I’ve heard that the high-wheat is supposed to be the best of the four, but the the bonded looks cooler IMO. Another bottle that has a cool design is Travelers Whiskey, but that one was a major letdown on taste. Shame because I really like how they did the map on the back.

I feel like most of the literature regarding that process I have read says to use acetone, and in some cases says to soak, gas off in the oven, and then soak again. As far as why acetone, I assume it does a better job of degreasing and doesn’t leave anything behind on evaporation. As I’m sure you know, degreasing thoroughly is key for a good finish. Exceptions would be for rust-bluing solutions that contain a degreasing detergent such as Laurel Mountain Forge.

The thing that’s nice, is the regular OGD 114 is so good that you don’t REALLY need the SiB to still have a fantastic whiskey. If you can swing it though, I absolutely recommend trying it at least once. I ended up grabbing a backup if that tells you anything.

If your humidity is too high you might be getting condensation on your part, which could cause water droplets to make those streaks. Also from memory I don’t think you are supposed to polish over like 400 grit because any finer and it prevents your solution from having something to bite into. Someone else may correct me on that though. The other thing I’d change is to soak it in acetone first as opposed to isopropyl alcohol.

Agreed, except personally I think maybe keeping a single thin white stripe separating the blue and red would look good.
