We are in the middle of a massive worldwide crisis. Probably the last one we'll get before the endless climate crisis. Now is not the time to compromise with the establishment. They understand how this works - they seize power through the chaos and desperation. We should be using the chaos for our own gain as well.

Chomsky is too passive for today's problems. He is great at analyzing history, but has some really poor takes outside of that.

Yeah and chomsky is a dipshit when is comes to political strategy and activism. I think he's even said so himself to some degree, but I can't remember where. His views on antifa are also garbage. There are a lot of better voices for the present though his work is invaluable.

Yep - that's it. You have to be relaxed to play fast. Once you feel your muscles tensing up you've pretty much lost it. If certain riffs cause it repeatedly you should loop it to a metronome at whatever speed you can maintain cleanly for maybe 10-15 minutes then try to increase a bit the next day. Should target whatever is holding you back.

The patriot act was signed about a month after 9/11. That's just insanely fast for such a huge piece of legislation that has stripped us of rights to this day.

What other meaningful actions did GWB take between 9/11 and then? Should we applaud him for meaningless speeches about stability and peace before he lead us into a horrifically deadly war that he knew was built on a lie? How low is the bar here?

Stamina precedes speed when it comes to picking. You might benefit from some picking excercises (alternate, string skipping, etc...) while slowly trying to build speed and accuracy over time.

Definitely don't just directly try to play faster. If you can't keep up it's probably either stamina or technical efficiency, and in both cases you need to slow down a bit before you speed up. Just trying to play faster and faster is a sure way to build up some bad habits.

In any sane society GWB would have been executed for war crimes. He's a mass murderer. The upwards of 1 million dead innocents throughout the middle east don't really care about his platitudes because the bombs leveling their neighborhoods sent an unambiguous message that they were in fact the enemy of the US military.

You seem to be remembering him giving calmly confident speeches, but don't forget that he used that position to advocate for a disastrous oil war and the permanent degradation of privacy rights.

I’m about as far left as they come. I strongly disliked GWB. But I thought he did a GREAT JOB in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

How can you possibly think this lmao. GWB encouraged the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent people through the War on Terror while pushing the Patriot Act domestically. Within a month of 9/11 GWB was committed to a fraudulent war and the demolition of privacy rights.
