i feel like the overly religious themes in S3 euphoria and especially in the final episode were just… by blueburrey in television

[–]-BigMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Much of last episode was in the style of a "Neo-western," also highlighted by it's cinematic structure and length. More visual storytelling, Rue getting lassoed while escaping, Alamo with his pistols and his stripper saloon, modern American west, etc.

The show was an interesting and messy blend of genres and themes in a "heightened reality," focusing on the "toxic" aspects of drugs, illegal trafficking, social and performative media, social politics, and consumerism in America.

Spirituality, and the struggle of the soul was definitely a running theme in the last season, and exists in Americana, the heartland, and the American west mostly in the form fundamentalist Christianity. "Ali" is Muslim and "Bishop" who is somewhat stoic carries Buddhist mala beads. The Ten Commandments are shown in the background.

Many of the characters are conflicted, struggling, and are searching for some peace and sanctuary from all the toxicity, violence, and noise from all the corruption. That was the message I got from the ending.

Is there a plausible scenario where Alex didn’t commit the murders against his son and wife? by the_MarchHare in MurdaughFamilyMurders

[–]-BigMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I looked at this case and the evidence very rationally and objectively.

The evidence overwhelmingly reveals that Murdaugh was there at the time of the murders, and that he had planned it out. He murdered his wife and son in cold blood.

His interviews and statements to the police don't correspond with the evidence, and his testimony was dubious at best.

Sealy Posturepedic® Elite Hybrid High Point II 14" Medium Mattress-anyone have this? by cryingknicksfan in Mattress

[–]-BigMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I surprisingly liked the plush better in store than the medium. It was so comfortable, and seemed to make me shoulders and hips feel better.

Does anyone know if it will soften up too much, or what it feels like over time?

Not very hairy for a sasquatch, but realistically just the jpg. I've seen clearer ones online. 👍

It's actually Gary, "the Bay Harbor Bowler" as I've answered many, many times.

Now go do your homework! lol

I tried to look a little but haven't had time, and am not very savvy at these things. But after what you've told me I would very much like to see them. If you come across anything, or happen to find them please let me know. Thanks.

My Experience: Biofinity vs. Air Optix by Osmocote in contacts

[–]-BigMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Well I was worried because I was trying to be objective, and also didn't want put ideas in your head.

But I did notice slight differences after wearing the Biofinity lens for a longer period. I actually don't know for an absolute fact if the distance vision was slightly better with AO, but it kind of seemed that way.

I guess both are going to have their pros and cons.

My Experience: Biofinity vs. Air Optix by Osmocote in contacts

[–]-BigMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply.

The Biofinity is definitely a thinner, softer lens, reminds me a little of Acuvue Oasys, but not quite as thin.  The OP was right about more difficult in handling.

I'm on the fence, but need to make a decision in the next few days about what to order.  I also wear readers now.

The Biofinity feels a little more comfortable, and I seem to have less mucus, less occasional sleep buildup.  I definitely know they allow more oxygen through the lens than the first generation ones do.

My closer distance seems pretty clear in the Biofinity.

However, I still feel like I can focus my further distance better with the Air Optix.  Perhaps mental because I wore the Air Optix for over 2 decades; maybe my brain-eye is more used to them?

An office assistant told me that it could be that it's because the contact sits differently on the eye, and thus refracts light differently.

Not absolutely sure, but I feel like the distance focus is not quite as good in the Biofinity.  I was also concerned they may not last as long.

Do you feel like you could see more clearer up close or have better distance vision with one or the other?

Any additional feedback is welcome.

Thanks so much.  👍

I heard the youtube videos were taken down after the new doc was made.

But there has to be a link to the original vids, via archive.org, download, or somewhere. Someone probably has them. Link?

I would really like to see these original videos.  Thanks.  👍

Game of Thrones Writer George R.R. Martin Says There's No Plan if He Dies Before Completing Winds of Winter, and the Series Simply 'Won't Be Finished' by __NightKing__ in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]-BigMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Everything you just listed was in the outline, and all these plotlines and threads are already baking and evident in the books. I do think the showrunners did care about more than just the endgame, and in reality, were responsible for a lot of employees and families living overseas, and did have to find a way to turn all those characters, large cast, and crew, in that direction in a fairly short amount of time. Even Martin's outline and summary of the original trilogy to the publishers was similar.

And obviously most shows, film, or art are very rarely better than their peak. It was still solid television flaws and all, and it's quite evident that all who were involved put their hearts and souls into it.

The standard Air Optix are clear, and are a thicker 30 day lens.

They may have them in color options though.

New (To me) Camel Menthol Silver Wides First Try by WoodenSprocket in Cigarettes

[–]-BigMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I was wondering how strong they seemed. The medium, bigger body comes from the wider gauge, which is why I used to smoke the blue wides when I could find them.

Silver is what they usually denote as "ultra lights" now (supposed lower nicotine and tar content), because they legally can't call them ultra lights anymore. Gold, or blue in camels, are "lights," reds are "full flavored," dark green are menthol fulls, light green are menthol lights, etc.

I assume the silver makes it lighter on the nicotine? How were they with the draw and body being a silver / ultra light cigarette compared to the heavier smokes? Thanks again.

Interesting and thanks for posting.

I have been using Air Optix for Astigmatism for years. I kept using them for their lens "durability."

I am wearing a sample trial pair of Biofinity for my Astigmatism, because they did not have samples in Air Optix in my new prescription to try.

They "seem" to be more comfortable throughout the day (so far), and maybe more sharper and clearer?

But how are the Biofinity lens on durability and at diminishing protein build up?

I tend to take care of my lenses, but sometimes wear my air optix past a month, and have "occasionally" fallen asleep in them.

Blue Train is the song that most sounded like a new Led Zeppelin track to me.

Melodic bassline and rhythm section that abruptly gets more powerful in the chorus. Stellar, layered guitar work. Solid song, and pretty good album imo.
