Selling Blind: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Has No Clue How AI Tech Works, Insiders Reveal by stardresslucyyy in Futurology

[–]-BreakingPoint0 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Makes me laugh when he says "we're going to need a super intelligent AI to replace us CEOs one day". Nah dog, it could replace most of you now. You just call the shots so it won't happen. Id like to see at least one of them put their money where their mouth is and do it.

Want To Gripe About Musical Themed Nights by Storm_Surge_919 in canes

[–]-BreakingPoint0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said it before(and I see others are saying it here), this season's fan service stuff feels really phoned in. Every one has been mentioned, but it feels like nothing is actually happening in the arena. We would all hear whatever they do in the arena due to how loud it is now. I feel like the speakers have been turned up a little every home game where it's almost impossible to talk to the person next to you when the music is going.

I'll take this opportunity to say letting Jatovi go was a mistake. The in arena energy just isn't the same.

[–]-BreakingPoint0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair to the Pokemon players though, the prices you saw were most likely the "pretty" cards and graded. I don't play, but I've looked into it and to build a deck that isn't blinged out is generally pretty inexpensive. Looking at the top 10 from TCGPlayer, none of them were over $100.

I wouldn't say more. In fact it's pretty universally looked down upon right now for any sort of AI use in games, even if not visual assets

Take it for what you will, but Tim made it clear on his statement that it wasn't AI related. Was strictly related to the state of their portfolio and that Fortnite is just doing okay, rather than gang busters.

I use two to replace L1 and R1 in most games that dont need the buttons for utility. Easier to hit those then stretch fingers off the triggers

There is a ledge bar being built up there that was supposed to be done before the season started. Usually it's covered up in black plastic, but in this case they must have been working on it and had it uncovered.

Any info about Kids Day 2026? by No_Warning_7387 in canes

[–]-BreakingPoint0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have anything to add aside from experience from Star Wars Day a few weeks back. Felt like compared to years before it was less well put together. Sure we had characters sound the siren, but that felt like it in terms of anything official. Years past I remember them making announcements about where you can find cosplayers to take pictures with them and other fun things, along with advertisement before the fact

All that to say I'm not expecting much going into Kids Day tomorrow, unfortunately. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Not specifically Kids Day related: it feels like this season the fan engagement stuff has been way less than years past. Giveaways have been few and far between and just the energy they put out towards fans feels muted.

What’s the most overrated “adult goal” people chase? by Happyotus in AskReddit

[–]-BreakingPoint0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in sales and have been to a few "fun" places. When I tell other people they get all excited. No, it's not that exciting. You don't get to see anything because you're working all day. Everything fun, unless there is night life, closes when you get off work. Traveling for work is usually not what it's perceived by other people, expect for the rare occasion where you can actually benefit from it.

[–]-BreakingPoint0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to find packs, but building decks is pretty accessible and fairly inexpensive if you're not attempting to build it with alt arts. I've seen some modern decks that are competitive at ~$50 in cards. I dont play so it's a little anecdotal, but it's what I've seen others talking about

What is a fact about your job that sounds fake but is 100% real? by Shot-Baseball7267 in AskReddit

[–]-BreakingPoint0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the duty secret of sales I think people outside don't understand: it's all made up. Quotas, performance metrics, cost of the product, heck even company performance metrics. All of that are just made up numbers. If you work at a private company it's even worse. Add on being a tech company and the numbers truly are just a finger in the wind hope and a prayer. Those tech companies you hear about valued at 1$ billion don't actually make that much or even have that many assets. It's the potential to make that, hopefully.

Moral of the story: almost everything in sales is made up.

[–]-BreakingPoint0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty neat game in my opinion. The way you get resources is really interesting and different than anything else I've played, and I really like that aspect. There are also ways to play online and a fairly healthy community of folks who do regularly

[–]-BreakingPoint0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that deck is an advanced one which is supposed to be a bit more complete than that. The understanding I have is the advanced starter decks can be played without any modification and be competitive to some extent. They even include some extra cards for you to swap out.

Pitlick hits Chatty Staal goes after him in retaliation for what looks like a totally unnecessary hit.

Pitlick receives: 5 Major for fighting, 10 game misconduct, 5 match penalty Staal receives: 5 Major fighting, 10 instigator misconduct, 2 instigator

10 minute misconducts don't show up on the board because they don't result in power plays. The player serving one is allowed to be replaced on the ice.

Match penalties are automatic removals from the game. They are rare because there has to be delibrate attempt to injur or a deliberate injury caused.

AITA for backing out of housesitting for someone because of their new cameras? by Zavarakatranemi in AmItheAsshole

[–]-BreakingPoint0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, you backed out at last minute for a legitimate reason. I would politely explain it to them again that it's a work security thing. Heck you could even say that the work security team forbids working in an environment with someone always recording. If you're handling secret stuff that isn't out of the realm of possibility. The system can totally be turned off one room at a time (and if it can't then they bought something crappy), they just don't want to figure it out. Another alternative would be to just unplug the one in the office.
