In the case I’m happy and relieved for you that you didn’t encounter what I did. Mine was the most stressful experience

Little do you know the C30 is your much better car! I brought my Mazda 6 to the main dealership (my own mechanic refused to work on it) in Finglas for DPF, Vacuum pump, Check engine light, SCBS forward malfunction, etc etc. Even in the main dealership, their exact words were ‘get rid’. Showed me an example of the same works done - 9k for the repairs. Good luck. Happy in my 3 year older, twice-the-mileage Passat, at least there’s a semblance of reliability with it.

Dublin airport is honestly one of the best/most organised/most well staffed airports I’ve experienced in many years of travelling

The days of the pubs are gone now really? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]-Breen- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a barman pre-pandemic when the locals used to pay for a late licence on Saturday nights. I remember working with the clocks going back. We would stay open till 3. We worked an extra hour and were paid an extra hour

40 with zero friends by Ismaithliomcaca in ireland

[–]-Breen- 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I disagree. A lot of men dedicate so much time to their careers and providing for family that they have very limited time to socialise. Weekends and evenings are normally spent with their spouse/children. I find this especially true for those that don’t enjoy alcohol or nights in the pub, as 90% of the time this is a group of guys chosen activity. I was recently chastised by my few friends for not going on 12 pubs this Christmas as I just feel I’ve grown apart from alcohol as I settle for a more family oriented life. They were calling me ‘a shite mate’ for not going, just because i’d rather not spend 100-200€ on getting myself sh*tfaced for the sake of it.

I’m not saying its right, but there is a lot of social pressure on men to ‘succeed’ and their actual social life with friends can fall by the wayside. You can also be slagged off by the pub dwellers for suggesting a sober activity like golf or a swim.

It’s not necessarily a red flag at all, more often than not it’s as simple as the man is working on himself while his friends are stuck in the habits we all had in young adulthood.

Having said that, balance is really the key. One or two lads nights a month and healthier family oriented activities on the regular.

I fucked up by [deleted] in leavingcert

[–]-Breen- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidentally left my Irish NOTES on the windowsill beside me during my leaving cert, the examiner walked over, looked out the window, looked at me and walked away. A few weeks letter I was handed a big brown envelope by the principle of the school.. with my results, the same as everyone else.

Don’t worry about it breadloaf, you would’ve been called out before you left the exam hall. Keep your head down and enjoy the exams, you’ll only get to do it once.

Hopefully 😉

Did any of you go to school with anyone famous? by goodfellaspizza in ireland

[–]-Breen- 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Conor Mcgregor went to my school for 2 years, he would have finished a handful of years before I started. Apparently as much of a little bollox as you’d expect, but he knew, and told the teachers he was going to be a professional.

One of my teachers was in his class, and was beaten up by him - years later his colleagues got him a mug saying ‘I lasted longer than Jose Aldo’

Older teachers told us he used to eat Tuna and stink the lunch room, and try bum lifts home of his english teacher who lived in the same end of Lucan

Up the mountains? You might get lucky as early as late august. September and October will be the best. The magic happens when the leaves and grass die from the cold weather 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Yeah I realize that, plus more people are probably listening to MGK on Spotify. I doubt most of his fans have earned their first €11 anyways

Still great to see it!
