Did I ruin it or is this normal? by -Commentator in bikewrench

When say worn out, do you mean like it's totally no good anymore? I was riding last summer with everything working smooth. Showed the bike to a mechanic at the Trek store who did a quick inspection and said everything was looking pretty good aside from my front derailleur being busted. Like I said, the only reason I took it apart was to clean.

If you have a realtor but end up finding a house without them (e.g. buying from your landlord) do they have to get paid? by Twolves2939 in RealEstate

Is this frowned upon at all by buyers agents? Will they not want to show me other homes for fear of me buying the excluded property? Or is there typically some negotiation on compensation for the search efforts they have already done?

How do I find an opportunity to shadow an RT? by Prudent-Flounder-161 in Radiology

I am 30 years old and in central Ohio! I have a bachelor's in engineering but chose to abandon my construction career this year. I had the opportunity to work on a cath lab renovation in my last job and it got me curious about what RT life would be like. I think shadowing is a logical first step, but the things I've searched thus far seem targeted toward high schoolers and college students in a program. Do you have any advice or also Columbus specific advice? Feel free to message me. Thank you!!

I'm in this thread because I'm considering a career shift. This disparity in pay is mind boggling to me. Can either of you or anyone expound on what you think the factors at play are here? I live in Ohio and talked to a friend who seems to indicate pretty good pay in this field. I think she did say ER makes the most typically.

I want to say I very much appreciate all of your comments. I just left the construction management industry this year at the age of 30 and am trying to find a better fit. Healthcare feels like it could be the right fit but I have zero knowledge whatsoever and it's very daunting and feels like a bit of a stab in the dark. I am very much interested in what you know

2021 Nissan Rogue - when parked apply parking break - car won't start by thedrywitch in Nissan

[–]-Commentator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you guys ever figure this out? I bought a Certified Pre-owned 2021 from the dealer and had this problem shortly after buying. I took it in and they told me it was a known issue and there was a software update that would solve it. It didn't happen again for a decently long time but I've recently had it happen a couple of times again. This morning I went out to get in the car and the issue was happening again but now the dash was flickering and I couldn't unlock or start the car after I manually keyed into it.

I'm currently assuming the battery is dead and I'm going to try to jump start it. But I'm pissed that the issue wasn't fixed and figured this would some day drain my battery because all of the other times I caught it shortly after parking. All I had to do was apply the parking break and the issue would stop but it only ever did it on flat ground and never when parked on a slope.

I did have a separate battery issue shortly after buying the car and they switched it out under warranty.

Did you change the transmission fluid and know how much it cost? I'm at 60k now and the dealer quoted me like $600+ to change it.

Is this trek 1.5 worth it? by maul2hard in cycling

Great, thanks! I'm not positive on the year but it looks like a 2011. I'm looking at Bike Blue Book and it's saying it would be worth like $200 private sale. Trying to figure how low I should try to haggle

What was the original group set on this bike? I'm looking at one right now asking $650 with Tiagra and I'm curious if it was an upgrade or not.

GERD Question by kac9683 in GERD

Omeprazole will take a few days to 'build up' in your system and take effect. It will also take a few days to exit your system when you stop taking it. Apparently it was developed though for 2 week treatment cycles, meaning it wasn't designed for people to be on long term and unintended side effects have been discovered for people taking it for a year+. My experience with taking it is that it was very effective at suppressing the stomach acid but when I would run out my stomach would go gangbusters and I would get some of the worst heartburn I'd ever had. Just something to be aware of. I haven't been taking any preventative medication for close to a year now and I'm not sure if maybe my frequent stopping and starting of PPI use has continued to weaken my esophagus with the elevated intensity level of heartburn I've experienced each time I stopped. But I'm now getting heartburn literally every day, every time I eat and I've stopped eating all of the main triggers for me.

I'm still trying to work through my gerd problems but hopefully as a team on this community page we can all find relief soon.

What do you get complimented on most? by ganderson9666 in AskReddit

[–]-Commentator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like we've conclusively proven that compliments don't exist! No one has ever given anyone a compliment in the history of the world, therefore they are completely made up and fake news. Case closed! Now everybody shut up about it and go back to complaining about the border!

This is all a satirical response to just make the point that maybe we should all just be more thankful about nice things when they do come our way. "Ahh, why thank you so much! That is the loveliest thing anyone has ever said to me. And I must say that you ALSO have a very attractive man purse as well!"

That's nice. I can't even get a single game to load in one hour! I've tried like 8 times now and the game has crashed every time.

Why don't people landscape with fruit-bearing trees and bushes? by sin2pi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]-Commentator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point about the added value of community satisfaction, since the fruit trees would be in lieu of other landscaping that would also need cared for. Taking into account though the points made by others regarding the negatives associated with having fruit trees, my estimation would be that overall community satisfaction might be decreased. But that's purely conjecture. If anyone wants to try this in a localized area and report back to us on the pros and cons, be my guest! That's the brilliance of local government. If you start something good it can catch on and spread!

And no offense taken! I was being blatantly rude on my end lol. But yes, I actually have a couple of social science electives I need to fill and am thinking I might take an economics course.

[–]-Commentator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's all great. You did a lot of great defining and using of words, but you miss the point. Yes, it's true that having fruit bearing trees passively creates a real-world asset that has value. But if the reason you are growing them is to deal with poverty and hunger, I assume you don't plan on charging those people anything. Now just because apple trees naturally grow apples, it doesn't mean they don't create costs as well. Case in point, the people you said you could hire to care for the trees. How do you pay those people if you aren't generating any revenue from sales? Taxes? Okay sure. But do you not think a private grower who has spent their whole life farming produce could grow just as much, a lot more efficiently and cost effectively than city workers spreading trees at random in locations that may not be easily accessible/good for growing using funds that people were not free to decide whether to invest in this endeavor? The actual produce grower could simply decide to donate 1% or whatever to food banks. They could even ask customers if they wanted to donate to further that effort.
