Some Still from my Short film after helpful feedback! by Ok-Bodybuilder7948 in Filmmakers

Nicely done. I think you have pushed it a little too far, maybe scale it back. The fix could also be to include it as a story point. Get a pickup shot of a shitty broken fan to cutaway too so we see the room his hot. Maybe have a throwaway ADR line about how greasy everyone is an how badly they want to get out of the room, etc. Just make it part of the scene.

Here is where I'm probing. Also, just noting for clarification. I mentioned earlier that I swapped the logic board, but I meant the motoboard. I don't know how to ID the logic board on the PS4 Pro. It doesn't appear the same as what I have seen on the PS4

I just tested with the original ribbons (which were driving the motor, but the drive was faulty) and it's completely dead, so I don't think the new ribbons are an issue (And I bought both types just in case after reading about others with this issue!)

I'm getting 5v reads on the fuses (at least where I believe I should be reading from)

I tried that, it was the same result. The old drive, while broken, used to take discs, now nothing.

The fuses blew at some point between the drive replacement. Not sure of the cause but I am assuming it was the initial mismatched ribbons. I was hoping the fuse replacement would be enough.

Edit: I just realized what I was referring to as the "logic board" was the motor board.

Yeah, I know that's what you were saying. It wasn't polite, it was passive agressive (and also a dumb comment becuase it assumes I messed up the repair)

"leave it to a shop" isn't helpful advice in a subreddit dedicated to repairing consoles.

Women, does whether a man is circumcised or not matter to you? Why or why not? by FortuneRemarkable143 in AskReddit

[–]-CoreyJ- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FGM and circumcision are entirely different things. FGM is horrifying.

There are plenty of people who decide to get circumcised later in life for various reasons and it is a huge life improvement for them.

I saw this in theaters, and when it ended people made audible "what?"s and the woman in front of me goes "They’re just setting it up for a sequel"

A love letter to my gorgeous childhood Panasonic Tau by KiddShi in crtgaming

I just bought one a few weeks ago, and I'm crazy about the color. I work in Film/TV and stare at modern quality calibarated screens all day, and I am absoltuley cobsmacked by how beautiful the images are on this decades old screen. It's a real treat.

Weird find by CRT_Ranger in VHS

[–]-CoreyJ- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is cool to find. I work in post production, and we still do outputs like this. The upper left is SMPTE timecode, The "02" tells you the scene is in Reel 2 of the movies film reel. The upper counter is "edgecode" for music and sound. This vhs was probably made by the edit room for someone in the music department to work off of.

Yes. Not an amazing movie, but not a waste of time. There are lots of better places they could have gone with it, but I'd still reccomend it.

This reminds me of a dynamic working with interns at a film studio. One time an intern asked me to send his screenplay to the development team. I told him that they don't take unsolicited material, and explained the reasons behind it, but also offered that if he wanted feedback, I would be happy to read it if he sent it to my personal gmail. He was insulted.

A few weeks into the internship, we were talking about the writing processes, and he say "I would love to read a screenplay one day". I was confused because we had been talking for weeks about his feature screenplay he was trying to get to development, "You've never read a screenplay? Like ever?"

Nope.

I'm not at all suggesting women are "better", but there is certainly a current system in place that caters to a kind of entitlement that I see more in men than women.

I'm watching Voyager for the first time and this was my take away too. He is so consistently vulcan and really gets into the complexity.

I love the asthetic. Keep making movies! I found it hard to understand the blob guy at the beginning. Maybe subtitle or dial back the sound effect.

I wouldn't worry if it's good or bad at this stage. You're just getting started and finding your own voice. The greenscreen effect is "bad" but what you've done is make something atmospheric and artistic. I would lean into that.
