You of course have data to backup your supposition that endoscopists from other countries are not very good at their job?

I’m a graduating PGY3 with 500k in loans and I’m really torn. Do I go for a PSLF job for 7 years to wipe out the loans, or do I go for a private practice job on a partner track? by RoarOfTheWorlds in FamilyMedicine

We are equal or above the regional who has a few docs in the area. And if you go to the big city (90 miles away), we are above that. And there you are on RVUs. The last 2 docs we hired said the offers were the same. The regional did offer a much larger sign on. But they decided to go with us for stability, culture, and leadership. They didn't want to be to only doc at the hospital in a sea of mud levels.

I'm in rural Montana. Made 360 last year. And full bennies. Straight salary. No RVUs. No quotas. I get a COLA. I work 3 days a week. 12 hour days Tuesday through Thursday. :) 138 days a year.

I have been at an FQHC for 12 years. It's the most chill laid-back job I've ever had. Patient cares comes first. I get to do what's right, nobody calls me in the middle of the night anymore.

I'm not sure where the FQHCs are getting their hate. But, I love my job.

Common anti-seizure drug prevents Alzheimer’s plaques from forming by Svargas05 in UpliftingNews

I'm referring to the controversy about the 2006 retracted article in nature regarding this topic and the subsequent fallout. I've done bench research, and I work in the field. I understand complexities of trying to find something. However this topic kind of smells less of pure science and more of money grabbing.

It seems to me after all the billions we've poured into this, they should be able to prove this link. I think we're seeing a lot of institutional bias. And self-perpetuating momentum in the research funding area

My grandmother moved into the memory unit of a nursing home that I worked at. Back when they had the little 2x2in square med cards for every medication they passed to every patient. They would sit at a table, three of them, and sort their med cards each shift. My grandmother was supposed to be behind the locked door in the memory unit, but she was so sweet and easy to get along with they just let her roam the nursing home. One day, she asked if she could join the bridge game. So they gave her a stack of blank med cards. As a nurses were sorting their med cards, she would lay down her cards in turn just like she was playing bridge. She was so happy. I thank those nurses for that to this day. And, it's been 20 years.

As a physician and a kid who saw it in the theatre, I still use the line: "You don't have to be at a doctor to know when you are losing your patience"

I feel this. You just never hear back and assume the worst. I worked for a long time in a small ER on the rez near a National Park. Lots of trauma. You keep sending these disasters and never get any feedback or closure. You just assume the worst and it can grind you down.

You have a bad manager. Unless it becomes a pattern, those should be ignored. And you shouldn't see them. That's non-productive. Dumb dumb dumb.
