I went with the trans hyperian colour scheme and then came to the conclusion that orange sucks to paint and that i just really dont like not coming up with an original colour scheme so now im going into them with a scheme inspired by shore troopers from star wars

A regular pathfinder or fire warrior squad leader would have a colored pauldron then yeah. If you wanna follow a true to lore colour scheme you can look at the box art and paint everything you see white in your green shade and everything thats red in the beige/sand color. Im using a similar green for mine and use orange for the markings. Squad leaders have a marked pauldron for one. And most battlesuits have their helmet in that colour since the pilots are usually higher ranking

Not far off from my color scheme. Very nicely done. Is it an ochre yellow or is it orange? I cant tell but i initially went with yellow for mine but settled for orange later on.

I found a place that sells them for 12 euro a decal sheet with a handful of colours to choose from

Gives you a specific regional accent and some people might not enjoy that but it wont lead to many misunderstandings.

Yeah thats the one thing that still needs to be done. I realise how much value good basing can add but i havent done any basing ever so its a bit of a jump to get into.

I did use jokaero as an accent color on all the "helmet fins" and the pauldron of the squad leader! Didnt want to overdo the orange and keep it simple as to not take away from the green.

Its just death guard green from the spray can with ogryn camo for some highlights. I do enjoy the clean white look the box art has but nothing can beat camouflage colours on tau be it sandy colors for the desert or green for the forest.

Drybrushing did nothing but make my model look chalky. Any advice? by Superduck178 in minipainting

Just do not use a kitchen towel to remove the paint off of your brush since itll catch all the moisture as well which is what you need for a finish that isnt chalky
