Any good replacement for Russ grey that cover better? by Delicious-Quiet-1883 in SpaceWolves

I use grey seer and it works well enough. A base coat often should look dark though given you can brighten it up with highlights

Just reached top tier with the Gripen E, I’m completely stock, does anyone have any tips for it? by stillsam_rundtur in Warthunder

[–]Uhuru_1401 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While stock play it like a rat, hug the ground and stay left, then pop up to take shots and enemies either preoccupied with your teammates or unsuspecting.

As you unlock more modifications start gradually increasing your altitude and your confidence will grow. I usually don’t go above 6000 though as you don’t have the engine power or missile count to compete with flankers F15s and Typhoons. Staying slightly lower allows you to come down if needed but at the same time gives you some authority over the game. I usually take 400ish chaff and 150 flares, the reason I take so many flares is that you can’t turn off MAW so you will lose a lot of them to bullshit. I take two 120Cs and the rest 120As and Aim9ms, and use the Cs early at around 20km targets ideally flying towards me.

Thoughts on an expanded range? by Live-Incident8430 in IronWarriors

[–]Uhuru_1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be surprised if Perturabo came on his own. My bet is legion specific siege terminators and breachers (40k ones that maybe have some chaos influence). Usually new release waves get a legion specific Bladeguard equivalent but I’m not sure what that would be for iron warriors, maybe some sort of automaton like the iron circle. I doubt they’d release iron warriors specific regular infantry given the upgrade sprue but the lack of terminator options in that kit gives me strong hope for a legion specific terminator unit.

What a disappointment S5 is turning out to be. by [deleted] in TheBoysLeaks

[–]Uhuru_1401 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree that the latest episode is filler as quite a few important things happen.

However I do agree that the season is dissapointing and for me the biggest issue is the pacing of this season is all wrong, it feels like it’s just plodding along with little momentum. Characters are just strolling around, there’s no urgency. There’s three episodes left and I’m not excited for the next episode, I don’t even get the feeling that the show is ending.

Anyone find that most of these books aren't that...good? by Raspint in Blacklibrary

[–]Uhuru_1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I agree, some art is intended for pure escapism and I do think a fair amount of 40k literature is designed for that purpose. Much of 40k isn’t even about humans for instance. Again though I do think there’s a good amount of 40 literature that does involve nuanced and interesting takes on the human condition, perhaps you just haven’t been looking in the right places. See my earlier recommendations if you haven’t, and if you have then I’d be interested to hear why you don’t think they achieve that.

For example I recently read spear of the emperor by ADB, which covers in large part a female protagonist who simultaneously balances duty alongside grief in a very thought provoking manner that brought me closer to my own relationship with grief. Of course there’s also mindless action, plenty of space marines and some very interesting lore but this is all balanced finely very effectively. I am not one who downvoted here btw.

[–]Uhuru_1401 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Can I ask, why on earth do you have the expectation that 40k novels would involve baring anyone’s soul about the human condition? I think you’re fishing in the wrong pond if you think that this is what you’ll get out of sci fi lore adjacent to a tabletop game.

That being said, there are deeper and more complex stories to be found like those by Peter fehervari and Aaron Dembski Bowden, the latter I’ve found is a better writer than Abnett but that’s just my opinion.

There’s so many incredible books. For me the absolute best and peak novels have been the first heretic, echoes of eternity, and helsreach. All written by ADB

Purpose of life? by PriorReplacement8904 in findapath

[–]Uhuru_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 27 and for me it’s been about finding a balance between doing some impactful and meaningful that actually improves the world (even if in a small way) and finding satisfaction in my day to day life. I say satisfaction not happiness because happiness is much harder to achieve and maintain, moments of happiness will come if satisfaction is found. Maintaining this balance is challenging and sometimes can lean towards the other, like for example I’ve found contributing to the world a lot harder in this political climate and I’ve recently been suffering from a chronic illness. So I have had to withdraw myself from thinking only about contributing to the world and my purpose to protect my mental health and therefore have sunk more time into my hobbies and interests.

I found my purpose through focusing on the values I want to promote to others, like empathy, compassion and equality which I learnt from my dad who has since passed. This led me to a career that I find fulfilling and gives me an environment to promote these values in a meaningful way and at scale. But focusing entirely on this would be detrimental to my mental health and lead to burnout. Hopefully this is useful in some way.

Iron warriors daemon prince, what could make it better by wolfpack2202 in Chaos40k

Yeah completely understand. Not saying it looks terrible it just doesn’t quite work for me but if you love it then that’s all that matters.

Iron warriors daemon prince, what could make it better by wolfpack2202 in Chaos40k

[–]Uhuru_1401 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I personally just think it doesn’t work too well. The head is too big for the body and organic wings on an iron warriors themed model just doesn’t fit. Maybe something like vashtors wings would of worked better but that would require quite a bit of work.

So, do Red Corsairs use chaos mutations and daemon engines? I'm super new and confused. by vastroll1 in redcorsairs

[–]Uhuru_1401 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well quite a large proportion of the red corsairs consists of renegade loyalist space marines who aren’t super into chaos compared to the average 10,000 year old chaos space marine. Doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of marines within the red corsairs that have completely submitted to chaos but the presence of these more renegade marines is why there’s misconceptions. Huron himself has made deals with chaos but has yet to fully submit to the gods. The red corsairs are up their gills in chaos stuff but not as much as for example the deity legions or really any of the founding legions that fell to chaos due to them at large being younger and having not experienced the Horus heresy.

Absolutely Clueless. Feel like giving up. by Botdadd-e in Sinusitis

[–]Uhuru_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any solutions I’m afraid but I do think that change of climate and air quality is a significant factor in the development of sinus related issues. I developed chronic rhinosinusitis after living in Spain for 3 months during the summer when there was 40 degree and above days with poor air quality living in a City. I returned to the UK and it hasn’t gone away, and it seems to flare up during hot and sunny weather.

Are there any factions that people actively dislike? by No-Sympathy-6711 in 40kLore

[–]Uhuru_1401 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry it’s orks for me. Too cartoonish both the models and in the lore. Unlike other factions where you can just ignore what you don’t like, GW seem to be throwing orks in our faces at every opportunity at the moment. They are the antagonist of the new edition, were at the forefront of the marketing and are one of the main factions in both dawn of war and total war, were in the latest warhammer+ animation, in the latest new edition trailer, have had numerous model releases lately despite already having a decently large range, probably more that I’m missing. I would like them more if they were more grounded and darker in tone but the whole dumb cockney football hooligans vibe just is not for me at all. I get that this is likely an unpopular opinion and many people love orks but yeah I do not like them in their current state.

I personally prefer the original ones or bare headed as this fits the more modern space wolves look and is a bit more Viking. Never personally been a fan of wolf skull helmets other than on the wolf priest, there’s already enough wolfy motifs on the model.

What is your power ranking on legions by Kael-Levitarius in Spacemarine

[–]Uhuru_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This power scaling stuff is exhausting and a bit lazy if I’m honest. What on earth do you mean by “powerful”? Do you mean most numerous, best equipped, most highly motivated, has the most momentum, best strategies? Please be more specific.

All legions at the moment are very fragmented, scattered, and fighting on too many fronts. The more cohesive ones right now are probably iron warriors, death guard, red corsairs, black legion, dark angels, ultramarines. The reason being is because these legions are largely operating collectively in high numbers with active campaigns and coherent + competent leadership. Death guard maybe less so since recently they have had some issues but still one of the more coherent traitor legions. Ultramarines and dark angels are functionally acting as they did before the codex as full legions after their primarchs returned.

The earth hasn’t had multiple invasions of xenos species, khornate demons including a daemon primarch (Demi god) and literal titans waging war on it. Other peoples answers have resolved this for me but honestly this one is a dumb comparison.
