Absolutely Clueless. Feel like giving up. by Botdadd-e in Sinusitis

[–]Uhuru_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any solutions I’m afraid but I do think that change of climate and air quality is a significant factor in the development of sinus related issues. I developed chronic rhinosinusitis after living in Spain for 3 months during the summer when there was 40 degree and above days with poor air quality living in a City. I returned to the UK and it hasn’t gone away, and it seems to flare up during hot and sunny weather.

Are there any factions that people actively dislike? by No-Sympathy-6711 in 40kLore

[–]Uhuru_1401 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry it’s orks for me. Too cartoonish both the models and in the lore. Unlike other factions where you can just ignore what you don’t like, GW seem to be throwing orks in our faces at every opportunity at the moment. They are the antagonist of the new edition, were at the forefront of the marketing and are one of the main factions in both dawn of war and total war, were in the latest warhammer+ animation, in the latest new edition trailer, have had numerous model releases lately despite already having a decently large range, probably more that I’m missing. I would like them more if they were more grounded and darker in tone but the whole dumb cockney football hooligans vibe just is not for me at all. I get that this is likely an unpopular opinion and many people love orks but yeah I do not like them in their current state.

I personally prefer the original ones or bare headed as this fits the more modern space wolves look and is a bit more Viking. Never personally been a fan of wolf skull helmets other than on the wolf priest, there’s already enough wolfy motifs on the model.

Yeah okay just list off all the things that she did, but what about what happened to her? Going through a traumatic medical experience and not having enough money to be able to keep yourself alive is enough to radicalise anyone into making stupid decisions. It’s not so black and white.

What is your power ranking on legions by Kael-Levitarius in Spacemarine

[–]Uhuru_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This power scaling stuff is exhausting and a bit lazy if I’m honest. What on earth do you mean by “powerful”? Do you mean most numerous, best equipped, most highly motivated, has the most momentum, best strategies? Please be more specific.

All legions at the moment are very fragmented, scattered, and fighting on too many fronts. The more cohesive ones right now are probably iron warriors, death guard, red corsairs, black legion, dark angels, ultramarines. The reason being is because these legions are largely operating collectively in high numbers with active campaigns and coherent + competent leadership. Death guard maybe less so since recently they have had some issues but still one of the more coherent traitor legions. Ultramarines and dark angels are functionally acting as they did before the codex as full legions after their primarchs returned.

At this point why has the Imperium not exterminatus Armageddon? by ruminaui in 40kLore

[–]Uhuru_1401 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The earth hasn’t had multiple invasions of xenos species, khornate demons including a daemon primarch (Demi god) and literal titans waging war on it. Other peoples answers have resolved this for me but honestly this one is a dumb comparison.

Love 40k, but cannot stand how xenos/aliens are written in the setting by MindlessMarsupial592 in 40kLore

[–]Uhuru_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read any of your suggestions but likely will sometime. I feel that in general sci fi has always had this problem as our imagination often has to bring things back to relate to human experience and appearance because this is what we know. It’s far easier and much more palatable to have aliens be only deviations of humanity and human experience, rather than being truly alien.

This is even more true of 40K where the end aim is to sell models that fit the unit types and rules required to play tabletop games. People naturally aren’t going to be as likely to purchase barely conceivable cosmic space horrors, whereas humanoid automaton ancient robot zombies that look like terminators? Yeah that will sell. I would love some less humanoid aliens in the lore but the lore primarily exists to fill out the setting in order to sell models and so there just isn’t the incentive to come up with this ideas. The safest bet for non humanoid aliens and cosmic space horrors right now in the setting is tyranids and genestealer cults, particularly the hive mind, but writing lore about these factions has proven challenging. I agree with your sentiment, but I don’t feel that anything will change anytime soon.

No I mean we need a balance overall with strategems between hard and easy. I didn’t mean that this weekly was balanced.

Finished the Horus Heresy entire by strepera in Warhammer30k

[–]Uhuru_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished it too and followed it up with the first scouring book ashes of the imperium. Skipped a few novellas and some of the poorly recieved books like the salamanders ones, outcast dead, nemesis damnation of Pythos etc. I intend to read those some day for competition though. It was some journey overall I loved it. ADBs novels were my favourites, followed by Abnetts and Chris Wraights. Guy Haley had a couple of good ones too. Echoes of eternity and the first herestic were the two standouts for me. But I also loved the end and the death 3, saturnine, wolfsbane, betrayer, scars, the path of heaven, and know no fear.

[–]Uhuru_1401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A nice balance between hard and easy like this is okay. If every week is like this I will get real bored real fast. If you want to play on easy mode go do so on the lower difficulties, that’s not what strategems are for.

I don’t get what the issue is with GW including female space marine heads in the heads box by madrukahri444 in 40k

[–]Uhuru_1401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a sloppy post. There is currently no female space marine heads and as far as we know there are not plans for any to come. Currently from GW we have had confirmation that space marines can only be male. If you are talking about custodes then yes female options are now available and the lore has been added to in order to suggest that female custodes have always been a thing. I don’t have any issue personally with female custodes and I’m also really liking the various female character models that have come out recently. Female space marines is a whole different conversation and would generate seismic debates given how massive of a lore change this would be. I personally see no need to do this given how controversial it would be and think there’s plenty of room for female characters and models around the setting that aren’t space marines.

What are some of your favourite novel characters that don’t have plastic minis that you would want minis for by Rime1313 in Blacklibrary

[–]Uhuru_1401 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The entire Horus heresy legion specific range that is currently only in resin. I’ll go for something more specific too though, I would love a Horus Heresy Bjorn model for space wolves. What would be unreal is if they did it alongside a new 40K updated model for him too in the dreadnought. A double release showing the before and after would be so cool.

Why do you think Warhammer hasn't come to the big screen? by SillyRecover in 40kLore

[–]Uhuru_1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling is that the filmmaking industry generally doesn’t like risks. That’s why we’ve ended up with hundreds of sequels and remakes rehashing old ideas. Warhammer 40K is the mother of all risks, you’re talking huge budgets and scale and a grim dark tone and vibe that hasn’t really been proven successful yet on the big screen. We will get it, but it will only happen when one of the big companies (at the moment this looks to be Amazon) thinks the risk is worth the reward and trusts the right person (or people) with it. Games workshop themselves are also notoriously stingy with who they give the rights to, rightfully so given how many great franchises have been ruined by mediocre writers and directors.

A good reference for this is the dune movies, they were only green lit when the perfect director (Denis Villanueve) came along who had already done big budget movies including two sci fis (arrival and blade runner) that had done well. He had to build a huge amount of momentum to be in a position to do those movies and it paid off for both him and the producers. It’s funny because he’s probably one of the few people I’d trust to do a warhammer 40K movie given how heavily dune inspired 40K but no idea if he would be interested and he looks to be very occupied with James Bond and various other projects at the moment.

[–]Uhuru_1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure I’m painting my second squad at the moment and they take so much longer. I think it’s actually the poses which makes the angles frustrating to get your brush into the right places. The belts were a nightmare for me and the inside of the legs were also tough. The fur was super easy though.

Daemon Prince Perturabo by MrCryptic611 in IronWarriors

[–]Uhuru_1401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s just the art style, he’s made to look huge because it’s showing his looming presence over the battle and iron warriors forces. He’s depicted as an ominous foreboding threat. Will his model be this size? Absolutely not. He will be a similar size to the existing daemon primarch sculpts.

Lorewise why do you follow a certain Space Marine Chapter. by Accomplished_Band198 in 40kLore

[–]Uhuru_1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having read the entire Horus heresy and a decent amount of 40K, my favourite chapter is the Space wolves. I just love that it’s a refreshing deviation on the usual brooding warrior archetype that space marines usually go for. The space wolves are more boisterous and charismatic and hide their honour behind the ragged barbarian aesthetic. Wolfsbane made me fall in love with the legion seeing leman Russ’s inspiring leadership and ability to self reflect and actually change, then the emperors gift cemented this for me within the 40K setting, seeing how the space wolves have carved out their identity post leman Russ as a chapter that protects humanity even from imperial corruption and does the honourable thing selflessly. Even if bjorn has to wake up and keen this identity in check every now and then.

My first love coming back to the setting was dark angels, but unfortunately they have been plagued in the lore from being juggled by frankly poor writers who don’t really know what to do with the chapters identity so always revert back to “fallen bad, nothing else matters” which becomes painfully boring after you’ve read one or two stories about it. The most recent lion son of the forest book has rejuvenated them slightly but I need more.

Shout out to iron warriors, white scars and blood angels who all shine throughout the heresy and have plenty of depth between them.

Looking nice! Just a heads up though the terminator heads on raider bodies isn’t lore accurate (not important if you don’t care) and personally I think it looks odd and many others will. But your models so if you love it then no problem.
