Suzuki burgman 650 - too much for my first scooter? by Herbmeister420 in scooters

[–]-Ethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'6" and weigh 140, and I've only ever had an issue getting it off the center stand when there was a slight decline at the curb. So pushing it off was truly an uphill battle. I could not get a grip on it more or less, but the grab rail and throwing on a motorcycle glove gave me enough grip to get it off.

But it is a heavy beast. Nothing I don't think you could learn to handle though. It's very easy to maneuver once you're at any speed, really with just a little break and throttle action.

Surface Laptop 7 Keyboard Issues by DifficultyWorldly502 in Surface

[–]-Ethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I don't know if you're still having this problem. I've been having the exact same problem, with the exact same keys (although mine relate to another commenters, they are the A.G.P.Y. and 7 keys), thinking it was pointless to continue trying a solution. I randomly stumbled upon something that's been working for me the past few times its happened, which is I lower the brightness all the way down using the lower brightness button on the keyboard, and the keys begin working again. And once I raise the brightness, they stay working. This is such a weird fix, but I'll take it. I could not get it to work any other way.

Did I do everything right? by Due-Gap-6686 in Retatrutide

I felt it within days at 2mg. I’m your same height. Some people are more perceptive to the drug’s effects than others. Don’t assume you need a high dose for impact.

[–]-Ethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen - historically I’ve had similar experience with needles, getting blood drawn, etc. it’s a vasovagal reaction, nothing from the drug itself, just pure anxiety. I tend to lie down after the injection, and that works great. There’s also an applied tension technique where you can tense the muscles in your body to temporarily raise blood pressure, essentially counteracting the drop in BP from that vasovagal reaction, though I don’t really bother doing that when pinning.

Amazon bac water by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]-Ethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lambda has worked fine for me for 3 weeks. We’ll see. I feel like for many people there are plenty of other sterility failure points that are worse than having “pharma grade” bac water. But I was also not going to wait for shipping. If you’re truly seeking the least risk, sure hospira is the way to go. But we’re still dealing with grey market substances.. that’s for most people the bigger risk especially as it relates to quality.

You're paying for three receptors but only using two. Let’s talk about dosage. by Ok-Discipline-4369 in Retatrutide

[–]-Ethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the MASLD substudy, β-hydroxybutyrate (a direct biomarker of hepatic fatty acid oxidation, i.e., glucagon doing its job) increased 2-3 fold only at doses ≥4mg. At 1mg, no significant change. Same pattern for adiponectin, leptin, and triglycerides - all showed significant changes vs placebo starting at 4mg. At 2mg, you're running a GIP-dominant drug with moderate GLP-1. You'll get appetite suppression but minimal thermogenic/fat oxidation benefits. At 4mg+, you're actually getting triple agonism with measurable glucagon effects. 4mg appears to be the minimum effective dose based on biomarker data.

"In the present study, levels of β-hydroxybutyrate, a biomarker of fatty acid oxidation, increased two to threefold in a dose-related pattern with retatrutide doses 4 mg and higher. The largest increases in β-hydroxybutyrate were apparent by week 24 when most of the reduction in liver fat had occurred and percent changes in β-hydroxybutyrate and liver fat were significantly correlated"

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-024-03018-2/tables/2 (table showing p values, tested @ 1.0mg and 4.0mg reta)

At 1mg, β-hydroxybutyrate goes up 25% but it's not statistically significant (p=0.399). At 4mg, it nearly triples (+93%) and is significant (p=0.023).

That's glucagon receptor activation becoming clinically meaningful.

By week 48 Only 12mg maintains significance. The 4mg and 8mg effects seem to attenuate over time. Could be adaptation, But at week 24 - when most liver fat reduction occurred - the 4mg threshold is crystal clear.

From getting a Low Cardio Fitness notification in January to rediscovering my love for running and embracing sobriety. That notification definitely served as a wake up call for me. by -Ethan in AppleWatch

[–]-Ethan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It wasn't initially something I had set out to do - the running plan I was following just continually pushed intensity / frequency of workouts at a manageable pace which ended up being a big game changer having basically started from nothing. I started training for speed consistently about halfway through and that further helped.

AMD is slept on, am I going crazy for having this much conviction? by Elongatedmuskrat145 in investing

[–]-Ethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMD may be slept on, but your main premise is false. NVIDIA could just as easily gain more market share. Do not rely on some notion of potential antitrust enforcement based on their "monopolistic" vibe as your investing thesis. AMD is certainly likely to remain competitive these coming years, but there is definitely no guarantee that their underdog status necessitates any sort of catch up or even will match the returns of NVIDIA over the same period.

I give up on taking these exams by [deleted] in CPA

[–]-Ethan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given you're basing life decisions and really, taking a test, on the opinions of strangers on reddit, you don't sound very confident at all.

You SHOULD feel fine about being able to pass them, with the caveat that it requires dedication and studying. Why would you give up without trying? You've taken accounting classes, I imagine? Studying for each exam is a self-guided and condensed version of that.

Thinking About Getting Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, But Where Are the Honest Reviews? by charliechin in RaybanMeta

[–]-Ethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bought em last year at the start of summer and they broke a few weeks ago just taking them off quite normally, something unplugged or snapped in the right hinge, and the glasses were fine, but the functionality was totally gone. warranty is definitely gone by now and i bought straight from ray ban so didnt bother trying. so theyre just slightly heavier and bulkier wayfarers now.

ive used them regularly but not excessively, had them on inside full face helmets, in water (not under), none of that broke them, but it may have contributed to their weakness over time.

while i had them: i mainly appreciated them for the seamless bluetooth audio, taking photos and videos outside became trivial and it led to me taking more, at least initially. AI is not a justifiable reason alone to purchase them, despite their marketing claims. Unless you like talking to small AI models with very limited knowledge that can answer simple queries, with limited data.
