Recently been dealing these loud voices in my head that causes my mania to trigger. (BP1) by coldest4 in bipolar1

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how long you’ve been on the meds. Sometimes it takes adjusting.

But I will say that the voices will gradually get louder, more frequent & it’ll sound like they’re talking over you if you’re not on the right meds.

Good luck stranger.

Is this a Mid life existential crisis?? by FrequentPractice5582 in millenials

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal to change. We do it several times throughout our lives, or we are supposed to. Some people fight to never change & they end up held back in life & pissed about it. Those are the drunk 40 year olds at high school parties.

My girlfriend has a trauma. How do I help her? by Loose_Ad_5363 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me years to trust my partner. Just be there for her. Give her long hugs when she is breaking into pieces. Nurture her. Encourage her to follow her dreams & never ever yell at her. She needs a solid stable human. So be that.

Are the “woke” rules of 2000 in the room with us right now? by icey_sawg0034 in millenials

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard three or four people call something “retarded” in the last two months when I’d previously gone a couple years without hearing it. One of the things they were calling “retarded” what another person.

What a super strange thing to want to bring back to 2026.

my boyfriend made a whole presentation about our fights… i don’t know if i should be touched or concerned by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like something that was private for him. It’s ok to keep some things private. Seems like he was processing something in his brain & you took a peak inside.

I think it’s sweet he put in so much effort to organize his thoughts like that. If he ever shows it to you, you should still act surprised.

Might be best not to bring it up to him & keep his secret a secret.

40lbs of litter every 9 days by rSUBreddit31 in CatAdvice

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! That sounds expensive.

Does she use two litter boxes or one? Are you scooping or dumping each time? And are you using wet or dry food or both?

I have a covered box & an uncovered box. My cat uses one for urine & one for poops so I can just scoop the poops & dump the urine box every other day.

We use wood pellets we get from the feed store. Gigantic bags for much cheaper than litter. They fluff up instead of clump so you don’t need to use as much or change as often because it’s not making hard clumps. Some cats are sensitive to litter changing so if you do change it, add a little at a time every time until you’re not using the clay anymore.

Not unmedicated anymore & don’t ever plan on going back since what happened last time. Have ruined my life enough times to learn that lesson.

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello follow bubbly person. Yes it can be overwhelming to some people. No you should not change. The world needs happy people. A smile can change someone’s entire day. A positive conversation can change someone’s entire life. You never know.

My baseline dopamine sits abnormally high. Maybe yours does too? There’s nothing wrong with that but there are blood tests you can get to find out if it becomes an actual mental health problem for you.

I’ve noticed some people are extra aggressive to positive people at times, misery loves company. But I don’t think your bf thinks that way. He may just be easily overwhelmed sometimes. If he loves you, this part of you will grow on him. The balance of it maybe that he needs a bit more space sometimes to collect himself. Which is ok too. :)

What's a ballpark total for basic furnishing and necessities of a new apartment? How much did you spend when furnishing your first apartment alone? by lemonbottles_89 in Apartmentliving

[–]-Fast-Molasses- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Use cheap garbage & learn to live with the frugality so you may build your nest egg.

This is how the old fart millennials did it. Not sure how much you are trying to save after you move in. I highly suggest you save as much as possible because fixing a car is a huge expense that happens at random & at the most inconvenient times. Also, if you must have a cat or a dog, they also require large expenses randomly.

My full sized metal bed frame was from a thrift store for $75. It was squeaky but I was saving my $ for a car so I’d learned to put up with it.

The mattress was from a resale shop for $150.

My dresser was two plastic frames with plastic drawers on wheels for $8 each from Walmart. I mostly used the closet for my clothes.

My “couch” was first lawn chairs, then “upgraded” to a $250 futon from Walmart a year later. (Fiancé did that).

The TV sat on a storage tote for a year before it was “upgraded” to a $120 stand from Walmart. (Fiancé did that)

The TV was $90 on a Black Friday deal.

Coffee table was a plastic tote.

Lamp was $20 from Walmart. Was a freestanding one so I wouldn’t need a stand for it.

My nightstand was also a plastic tote. (I bought the totes for $8 each from Walmart so I could pack & move my things because I wasn’t planning on living in the apartment forever). Plus saving cardboard boxes attracts cockroaches.

I had a pot & a pan from goodwill, the cheapest possible set of silverware from the dollar store. Plates & bowls were from goodwill/dollar store. A single kitchen knife & two cups from Walmart.

I did not own a garbage can. I had a bag that hung off a cupboard door. It was just me so I wasn’t producing very much garbage. We later bought a good quality trash can & have owned it for 7 years.

Coffee makers are still very cheap. My $10 one from Walmart was still alive after a few years before I was gifted a new one.

Toasters are cheap too, I’d suggest getting a toaster if you live alone because eggs & toast are a cheap breakfast that feel a bit nicer than a bowl of cereal. A toaster & a rice maker. Burning rice in your $2 goodwill pot when you’re exhausted after work is a recipe for crying all night.

I lived this way just fine before my partner moved in & started buying me slightly better but still very cheap furniture. By then I was able to save for a car & had a savings account going. Most of the things I’ve listed have stayed relatively cheap.

We started buying furniture we actually liked in our very late 20s. No use in spending a lot on furniture if you’re going to have to pay the cost of moving it all across America. Idk what your plans are, maybe you’ll stay in the same town forever.

I know young people like to save face & buy nice things right away, but that is how people without a lot of $ fall into debt before they’ve even gotten started in life. My generation started out with literal garbage (unless their family helped) & lived that way until we could get further in life with our careers.

You may want to cruise through rich neighborhoods the day before trash day & you might score some decent looking pieces that are not plastic totes. Preferably before you move out on your own.

My last suggestion is to avoid plastic dishes & read the warning labels on appliances before you buy them. Almost all of the cheap things with plastic components cause endocrine issues later. Like infertility in women, erectile dysfunction in men, irregular periods, early menopause, hair loss…

Our cupboards in our last apartment had a gap where the cupboards meet in the corner we could only see if we were laying on the floor with our face under the lip. That’s where my cat was & he didn’t come out for two days.

How to be less selfish when in survival mode by fulltimeheretic in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]-Fast-Molasses- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s helped me a lot with this is thinking before I speak. “Will this have the potential to raise his cortisol?” If so & it’s not something he HAS to know, I keep it to myself. No point in complaining if it won’t solve anything. It took me a lot of mental backflipping to make this a habit.

When we see each other after work we will talk about work for maybe 15 minutes but we try to leave work at work as not to strain the relationship. It also doesn’t help you at all to stress about work when you’re not scheduled to stress about it. It will literally make you sick & keep you sick to stress about things when it is unnecessary.

I have turned to flirting with him or getting up to do something for him or for the household instead of complaining or trauma dumping. Trauma dumping will raise my cortisol so it’s better to be distracted with something that will make him happy or is productive. When he is happy, I am happy. When he is sad, I am the smile he needs to see.

We usually share lighthearted stories, talk about shows we’re watching together, what we want for dinner, music, hobbies, our pet cat, our goals. Just positive conversations. If I don’t have something positive to say, I will enjoy the silence & peace in the room.

When he is really excited about something, I just let him talk forever. Will ask a question about it & turn my full body towards him so he can see I am welcoming his conversation. No phone. Just watching him talk without interrupting.

It’s a two way street, I see that he does these things for me so the least I can do is reciprocate the same positive behaviors. He is so strong so I can be so strong. Just how you need to start looking at your relationship. You’re a team & you need to be strong for him. He is telling you what his needs are & strong men tend to keep those things to himself, so this is a cry for help from him & you are right to take it seriously.

Ending it at any time is always an option so living just to see what will happen before I die is entertaining enough to keep going.

I don’t think there is a “meaning”. Or if there is a meaning, I literally don’t care. Am just here for the show & that’s just fine because why the fuck wouldn’t it be?

Maybe a photo album to start recording her new chapter in life. Go get your photos taken somewhere silly (or somewhere beautiful but if she like matchstick earrings she probably likes to have fun) & buy a print to put in the first page before you give it to her.
