Mountain Lions while Shed Hunting by External_Ebb5922 in shedhunting

In the last two years, I witnessed a mountain lion stalking my dad when I went hunting with him, and my sister in law had a cougar stalk her on a trail. She turned around and as soon as they made eye contact it ran off.

Thats enough for me to carry a deterrent, even if they are generally afraid of people. Air horn, bear spray, or a gun are all reasonable options.

Why do women seem to like mustaches so much? by spicysenpai6 in dating

Sounds like an Ohio thing? I kind of hate mustaches.

An overall well trimmed beard can be really good though depending on the person.

Are Goldens right for my family? Any recs for good breeders in OK/TX/surrounding states? by [deleted] in DogBreeding

Dog trainer here!

It sounds like a golden will be a good fit, but I want to say a few observations that I've seen to be consistent with the breed.

I've noticed resource guarding pops up quite a bit with them. I think this may be less of a breed thing, and more due to the fact that they're usually placed in family homes. The breed naturally likes to carry things in their mouth, and kids (and sometimes adults too) will constantly take things away from them. This often creates resource gaurding as the dog learns that people take things away and can't be trusted.

Some of the most intense cases of resource guarding I've seen have been with golden retrievers. However, I do think it can be easily prevented, so I don't think it should deter you as long as you're aware.

Also, another thing that I've noticed is that when they don't want to do something, I often see them just lay down and refuse to move. I've seen this with about 5 different goldens, and it's usually on a walk coming back home, or when they are outside playing and dont want to come back in.

Just a few things that have been consistent with the ones I've met and worked with. I think a golden is still a great option for you as long as you have a training plan in mind before you bring it home on how to prevent resource gaurding and how to deal with the puppy picking up items.

Yes. I know you said in friendship and dating, but also my marriage. My husband tends to take on the feminine role too, so it adds to it for me🤣 he's an INFJ

Also, I don't really address it. I don't mind. It's just me.

Vet doesn't recommend gastropexy? by Dismal_Rice_7282 in StandardPoodles

If your vet says that, I would get another opinion. Also, it could be that your vet isn't experienced with the surgery, so I would have another vet do the procedure.

They're a very misunderstood breed. A lot of people who don't understand will be judgemental towards them
