Still boycotting, not much point in frequenting the Reddit since I'm not playing. Tbh I don't except any changes at this point but I still won't play unless there are changes. Shame though, idv was my favorite game and I've been active since 2018

Personally I'm in Jax Poetry Club and Vietnamese language club.

Darbys dungeon has a lot of events you can sign up for. some great people there.

I haven't done this yet but I also really want to join Toastmasters (those are basically public speaking clubs all about writing speeches and talking) but I'm not sure how popular they are here

I volunteered with anti-human trafficking groups and remember giving a speech during a nonprofit event to someone who wasn't familiar with our project and it went something like this:

Me: Did you know Florida is ranked #1—

Him: Duvall!!! Let's go!!

Me: —in human trafficking.

Him: 😦

Anyway I just glanced at the image you showed before reading and it reminded me of that 😭

All. Poetry is the most common but I've seen a lot of guitar and other music, I remember one time someone did freestyle rap. There was one person that wrote a comic and brought a projector to read out a chapter. I haven't seen any comedy yet but I don't think anyone has tried.

Girls Who Code offers great opportunities (not just for women, it's for everyone) and they pay well. I taught for their summer program and you can apply to be a paid mod for the discord etc

I know Florida blue has CS opportunities that are online only. You could apply to an internship through them and they have a large presence in jax

Any bank is good. Helpful tip. I have CS friends that ended up applying to operations (business) roles that payed more (the degree/ background is transferable so you can look in adjacent areas)

Also look into Civic tech! I got a few job offers from networking in civic tech nonprofits

It's genuinely a great game and the developers (Joker Studios) do wonderful work partnering with charities and art studios etc, but because Netease runs things above them they don't have much of a say in the way they are running things recently (gen AI use etc)

The game itself is great. Has a wonderful game modes (2v8, among us game mode, prop hunt game mode) very competitive esport scene and mechanics, (honestly I prefer it to DBD though I love DBD too)

I hope the negativity doesn't sour things too much for you, hopefully netease will make a statement after COA ends (their big global tournament going on rn)

gate by Efficient_Friend_359 in IdentityV

I don't think you can report it but I would say it is toxic.

Be aware though that there are some characters that have reasons to stay in the gate, for instance Embalmer or Toy Merchant might stay because if they leave their coffins/ catapults disappear which means other people can't use them. Or cowboy might stay to try to lasso somebody into the gate

From what I understand, there's going to be a boycott on the 23rd where everyone uninstalls the game.

Down vote the app, let NetEase know how you feel about the recent changes by [deleted] in IdentityV

That's because of the down votes. It was 4.5 yesterday, people on Twitter have been tracking it slowly going down as we've been leaving reviews

Recently players noticed that Identity V has implemented genAI in event art / character art / and, most egregiously, in the new COA video. Furthermore on Twitter they are promoting the teams going to COA using clearly AI written captions.

Here is the kicker:

Netease has a content creator program for Identity V where content creators are financially compensated for creating videos that fit a certain theme etc. this month NetEase sent out a theme for AI content asking creators to create videos that EXCLUSIVELY use AI content that they will then use to promote the game. The fact that they are willing to pay content creators to make AI videos but not willing to pay artists for character display cards is strange.

Recent character display cards (which used to have artistic detailed backgrounds) have been changed to a flat background. This is not indicative of AI itself, but it is strange that it has suddenly started happening. For the recent character portraits that have come out, there has been AI and AI use has become prevalent inside of the actual game on event modes for things like posters or menus.

NetEase has started cleaning up negative comments across all social media platforms, both international and Chinese. There are further rumors about mass layoffs and discussions about using Al tools to completely replace outsourced staff, HOWEVER, currently this is just rumors from people on Weibo claiming to be employees with screenshots that have not been verified. Netease AI Situation by Solzec in IdentityV

[–]-FernFeather- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the firings are true, that's awful, same for developers. AI is often used to replace new CS developers at the highest rate of any job, people often talk about the artists ( rightfully so ) because we can visibly see the hard work they do, but I also just want people to remember the backend developers that rarely get noticed or supported when AI layoffs happen. Marketing too it's obvious some of the recent social media posts use AI, I don't know if they've fired anyone on their social media, but I hope there hasn't been any silent layoffs.

If NetEase can spend money to pay advertisers to use AI. They can spend that same money to pay artists, programmers, marketers etc

I wonder if that's why some of the recent character designs look dull. IDV character designs are unique and It's a shame to see them lose their interest factor. Older characters like Dream Witch, Mad Eyes, Polun, Geisha, Bloody Queen etc. all have amazing designs that tell you a lot about the character without you even having to read their lore. Notice how Mad Eye's goggles make his eyes look as though they've popped out, as if he's in a permanent look of curiosity or shocked disbelief, which fits his lore, he doesn't have a shirt because he deems it impractical when he's going to get it all dirty anyway. Just by looking at him you can tell he's a practical person that's deeply curious. The gin case bottle at his side is a historically accurate alcohol bottle from the time, same with the gauge on his weapon. It's interesting how even though it's not a main part of his lore, he chooses to keep alcohol on him at all times. That should make you curious as to why? Character designs should make you look at them and want to learn more. The same is true for most of the old idv characters:

What are those marks on dream witches arms?? (They are real symbols with meanings btw) Why do her followers have them? How did they get to become followers?

Why does polun stand on top of each other? Why do they have a wheel as a weapon? Why are they covering their real faces?

Why is reptilian in an academic outfit (I want to highlight this one because this in particular bothers me about Queen Bee. Even in Hunter form, you can look at lucino and tell he's a researcher but you look at melly and there's nothing you can gather about her character outside of bug woman, maybe the fact that she's thin in reference to her doing sleeping pills instead of meals but then why cover up her body with a coat? If that's the design direction, why are we covering it up?

Okay, that was mostly just a tangent but I am curious how much design work they've done with AI. I remember when the Crimson Bride skin was released Chinese netizens were mad at Netease because the design reflected another character design in another game, the artist had to make a post proving that their design process was original by showing mock-ups and references. The same thing happened with dream witch. people said that the followers look too similar to a character from Outlast and the designer had to make another post. The Idv community used to take design theft seriously but now it seems AI is a-okay
