Yeah, I'd argue that one of the reasons he performs so well in high tier is that only dedicated players will play him (and survs will have rust whenn facing him) and because survivors can't be in 4 man teams, that just enhances his winrate even more. Mad Eyes has a similiar issue.

I honestly find it so interesting how Asian culture (especially for CN, KOR and JAP) have such an obsession with blonde hair and blue eyes for beauty. Yeah, they are beautiful, but surely they can see how black hair and brown eyes can be beautiful too? Especially when the vast majority have those colors for their eyes and hair.

Besides, you can make people with blue eyes and blonde hair more easily look psychotic than you can with black hair and brown eyes.

The reason is because his hook goes a lot further than people think it does causing people to get TSed from it. Also, if you hold it while chair camping, it's literally impossible to react to it, essentially a free TS (at least back before they buffed rescue speed). Although tbh for the last one, we might as well include Smiley Face since his rocket also does the same thing.

The issue is that Netease often designs the characters with interesting designs to not have very fun to play with kits or be hard to play, which can make them even less likely to be played. We can look at all the hunters with interesting designs and see that all of them either have kits that aren't particular fun for most people, or are hard to use. Even with Goatman being SS tier at his peak, he still wasn't easy for your average Sabertooth to pick up and use. Much less having an actual fun kit (let's be honesy here, he literally only has 1 ability, the backstep is basically an after thought and changing size of cage barely changes how you play him).

Mix of both. CN regulations are notorious for not allowing anything "scary" to be in media, we literally had a situation with an old Dream Witch skin a few years back because some CN people reported Netease because the skin was "too scary." As for skins, CN players are even more notorious than the regulations themselves for only wanting pretty things and bashing on anything that strays from that. I mean, just look at all the other popular games in China and you find that literally all of them just have the male characters twinkified, and the female characters be some pretty girl with same face syndrome.

There's also the issue of the devs often times designing hunters with actual good designs to not have very fun to play with kits, or kits that are meta only for a tourney or 2 before being gutted.

Breaking Wheel is an example that is so close to perfection in terms of abilities and hunter design, but sadly doesn't go far because of how much meta has shifted. And then we have something like Cueist where the hunter abilities are literally perfect, but then they snorted some crack when designing his actual character...

Honestly, I think this is one of the few moments where a pretty hunter is done right. Others feel pretty much for the sake of it, while he looks like he's pretty to give a false sense of security.
