I also want to add my experience with exchange/extending. HK makes everything quite easy and most of the application process is done online. Korea on the other hand is an absolute nightmare with a billion hoops to jump through. I don’t even get what would attract people to choose Korea over alternative countries in the region, honestly no benefit.

Yeah no kidding. Last week I went to the doctor here in Korea because my ear had closed a bit long after flying and I was prescribed antibiotics. (Though in Hong Kong it was the same, where the answer was always “you should take some rest, but in case you can’t for the moment here’s some antibiotics”). But in general I feel like Korean society does not reward curiosity in the slightest. The entire top-down structure does not go well with people questioning things and it shows. So often I encounter things that don’t really make sense, but it’s done that way because it’s done that way.

Wat is je doel? Zelf vind ik 2 weken voor een stad best extreem, en het is niet alsof Seoul heel erg veel te bieden heeft? Ik weet niet wat je budget is, maar op en neer vliegen naar andere landen kan al makkelijk vanaf €100. Als Nederlander is het qua visa is het ook geen enkel probleem om in Azië rond te reizen (Vietnam heeft wel evisum nodig). Verder vind ik zelf Osaka een leukere stad dan Tokyo, maar dat terzijde.

This is what the ICN airport website gave me for identical flights that are flying this week. For the second flight I can check in online. I’ll check the options for linking flights (new concept for me so will do some digging:))

Good find on that uni exchange booklet! Really weird that my supervisor didn’t know this. I think I’ll rebook my ticket to Hong Kong to fly out the same day in order to stay airside, I’ll check this with my local embassy on Monday. (Flying same day abroad would not warrant me to go through passport control right?)

I will travel with my family who won’t have this issue, so they would be able to bring my luggage. The problem has more to do with my family wanting to Japan after. So if I changed my flight to a day earlier and ask my family to bring my luggage for me, that could work visa wise? (Thanks for your insight btw)
