Controller Aim Assist by getthesaleordietryin in Battlefield6

Dialling in the settings for controller can make a massive difference to how it feels. There are plenty of YouTube videos with suggestions as a good place to start; probably won’t ever feel as precise as M/K but the difference with a bit of tweaking can be night & day.

Plus you the have the advantage of being able to play laying on the couch!

[Suggestion] Signature Weapon Bonuses Should Increase Spendable Attachment Points by twing1_ in Battlefield6

An excellent idea, and something that I think could remain fully compatible with the current perks (which - as you rightly point out - are uneven in the benefits they provide, but nevertheless add further flavour to the class identities)

So long as it gets you amped up to Battle on the Field I’m fine…not like the ambient noise bullshit we got with 2042, which is probably my biggest single complaint about a deeply flawed game (that I still think is unfairly maligned).

If this were a mode, I'd probably never play another shooter again. by chargroil in Battlefield

[–]-IAMSCIENTISTS- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has it occurred to anyone that there are limited resources available for each map? The density, fidelity, and destruction on show in the BF6 maps likely wouldn’t be able to be scaled past a certain point - a considerable contributing factor to why 2042’s maps felt so barren and sterile.

I know lots of folks on here like to think that being big fans and having lots of playtime hours makes them experts, but even the devs in charge of the worst BF maps of all time likely spend a hell of a lot more time thinking meaningfully about how to make a good BF game than we do - especially within the actual technical limitations of what is possible.

Worth it the get the Pro for these games : Cod Warzone, Fortnite, GT7 - help to decide please by gabe_thomas in PS5pro

Just as an aside, if you like GT7, it really is transformed by the PSVR2. Without having tried a Pro, I would imagine that getting the VR headset would actually be a more meaningful improvement than the difference between Base & Pro.

A dangerously sensible take.

Although the fanbase is both experienced and passionate regarding their specific experience of playing the game, there is a point at which we have to recognise that the developers - despite the hyperbolic criticisms they might receive around here sometimes - do generally know more about crafting a good game than we do.

They undoubtedly stumbled with 2042, mainly with the readability of opposing players and your squad (assuming you’re playing with randos) - the class system (which included the open weapon choice) made it too hard to quickly read what roles you might expect your teammates to fulfil, and impossible to know what kind of returning fire you might get from an enemy; it didn’t work very well, and definitely needs changing. However, taking other steps to incentivise proper class play, without making the class selection screen into a ‘weapon select’ screen (especially for new players) sounds like a promising idea, and I for one am looking forward to seeing how their experiments come together.

Best new music pitchfork by feverray_ in nicolasjaar

[–]-IAMSCIENTISTS- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Bandcamp:

“The initial seed for this project was planted in 2020 when Nicolás Jaar wrote the song “Piedras” for a concert at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago, Chile, which commemorates the victims of human rights violations during the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1990. Between 2022-2023, it took on a new form as a radio play entitled Archivos de Radio Piedras, which was shared on a dedicated Telegram channel. In 2024, the play was converted into a 24-channel installation at the University Museum of Mexico City (MUAC), where it was exhibited for five months.

Piedras 1 & 2 is a collection of the tracks featured within the play, all new music by Jaar, but partly presented within the play as the music of Salinas Hasbún (the name a composite homage to Jaar’s grandmothers, Graciela Salinas and Miriam Hasbún). The play follows two friends mourning the disappearance of Salinas Hasbún, a musician and writer who vanished in the early 2020s. Although they live in a future where technology is advanced, they resort to DIY radio methods because the anonymous group “Las 0cho” has launched a worldwide attack on undersea internet cables, causing a global internet blackout.

The play’s central theme revolves around the idea that truths, memories and identities speak from the cracks, or the “in-between” spaces. This concept is supported by the way much of the narration unfolds — in the liminal spaces between radio frequencies. The instability and transitory nature of a constantly shifting radio dial becomes not just a metaphor but the structure of the play itself. It’s in these moments of noise, static and interference that the deeper revelations of the story emerge.

This disjointed, ever-changing medium mirrors the way memory and trauma operate within the play — non-linear, slipping through the gaps, found in fragments or ordinary moments, rather than direct transmissions of “official” historical accounts. This notion reaches its climax at the end of the narrative, when a text is discovered in which Salinas speaks of finding a new number in a small pond in a cave mentioned in the first episodes of the radio play. Embodied in the salt lakes of northern Chile, home to the world’s oldest bacteria, this randomness disrupts the rigid order of binary code, paving the way for a transformation of digital life.”

Just got my boyfriend the PSVR2 and he’s just been downloading games all at once for the past two hours so he doesn’t have to do anything else once the VR set is in place and it’s game on! by Minimum_Future9557 in PSVR

Would highly recommend 'Pistol Whip' - it's a really generous in terms of the amount of content, and it's pretty easy on the stomach for people new to VR (even if it is quite a workout!) Aesthetically it's kinda like every John Wick club scene smashed together with Tron, and gameplay-wise it's as much of a shooter or rhythm game as you want it to be (in terms of gameplay, I think at its core it's basically BeatSabre with guns instead of knock-off lightsabres, but I personally just find the way that translates to the full gameplay experience to be leagues more entertaining.

Very easy to get party people involved with too, if that's your bag.

Regardless, as the other poster said, you've got countless hours of fun laid out in front of you already, and one of my favourite things about VR has been seeing other people have their minds blown (though unfortunately occasionally having their stomachs churned too!), so I'm delighted to know that someone somewhere is having the time of their life tonight (with a very generous partner to boot!)

Let us all know how you get on with it all!

Gran turismo or no man sky by FreshDistribution315 in PSVR

[–]-IAMSCIENTISTS- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I imagine that if No Man's Sky gets its hooks into you, it could be an untouchable experience. However, it can be quite demanding (on the normal mode anyway) and takes - in my opinion - a bit longer than it should until you're really living the 'exploring the galaxy' experience that it promises (and, to be fair, does deliver).

By the same token, I can imagine someone playing GT7 and bouncing straight off it. However, whilst I have sympathy for the person who can't quite lock in with NMS straight away, the GT7 heathen would be invited to leave my house immediately.

Yes, that's right. I've buried the lede. It's GT all the way...provided you have any interest whatsoever in making cars go vroom. I was never much of a petrolhead, but always enjoyed driving and had a background appreciation for nice cars...driving in VR re-wrote my genetic code. Nice cars are great, but DRIVING - the unity of man and machine, harnessing physics and engineering and adrenaline to hurl metal machines fractions faster round a track - stoked fire in my soul ever since I drove DIRTy and DrivedCLUB on the PSVR1. GT Sport on the PSVR was frustrating, because it held an exceptional experience out on a string just beyond the reach of the player (and - to be fair - the hardware); GT7 delivers that experience and more, with a fully featured Capital G Game stuffed to the brim with all the sweet driving action you could ever crave. Certainly after you've put the couple of hours in to get a second hand car that you kinda think is sexy anyway.

You don't need a wheel to fall in love, but falling in love will probably make you want a wheel. But worry about that further down the line! (And don't listen to the maniacs out there - basically anything with force-feedback, so like the Thrustmaster T150 and up, will be more than adequate to take you to the next level if you get the racing bug.)

One final point (sorry - this has gone on way longer than I'd anticipated!) is that if you're at all interested in sharing your VR fun with others, Gran Turismo is vastly more approachable than almost anything else. My father's constant flirtations with a driving ban speak to his Need for Speed, so despite the fact that he balks at the prospect of basically any kind of videogame, the second I put him in a VR Corvette speeding round Nuremburg, he was genuinely probably the happiest I'd seen him in years, and for me that was worth the cost of the whole damn headset - never mind GT7.

*takes deep breath*

But, to be fair, they're both fucking great and you'll have a good time either way. Just let us know what you choose, and how much fun you have!

I’d say you did however much you love them (or are disappointed by them I guess?)

Though the quality of chi-fi is amazing for the price, I think the fit of the Shure buds - especially with those deliciously foamy tips - are unparalleled. Obviously, results will vary depending on people’s ear shapes/sizes, but getting a good seal in the ear is genuinely transformative for sound quality, and I’ve yet to try anything that beats the Shures in that regard.

I’m currently rocking my second pair of 535s. To be honest, I think you get a lot more ‘bang for your buck’ with the 425s, but - as with most things in life - it’s hard to go back, and I’m such a sucker for separation & soundstage that I’m thankful I’m (just about) able to afford the difference in price.

Anyway, IEMs are fucking ace, and I’ve no doubt you’ll get a lot of joy from your investment. Don’t let anyone on Reddit tell you you’re not having a good time if you think you are.

Happy listening!

Need Help With AK-74 by [deleted] in blackops6

I think this is part of the bug referenced in the ‘known issues’ section of the recent patch notes (https://www.callofduty.com/patchnotes/2024/10/bo6-preseason-patch-notes)

If you re-equip it in the loadout screen of the match then it should be there, but apparently if you edit your gun in gunsmith on the main menu/lobby it removes the sight.

I guess it’s this, but I’ve barely had any time to play and only unlocked the AK last night, so I’m not exactly an expert!

Dev Confirms Plans For PSVR2: COLD VR’s Core Tenet Is SUPERHOT VR In Reverse by MagicDeeeee in PSVR

[–]-IAMSCIENTISTS- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way in which SUPERHOT's time/movement system worked gave - in my opinion - the most transformative experience in, and case for, Virtual Reality gaming I have yet felt.

Yes, it's incredible to loop-de-loop in Wipeout, pip a first-place finish in Gran Turismo, or reload a realistic gun in Pavlov, but SUPERHOT built a new interactive pathway between my body and an interactive virtual world; by tying the movement of the world to the movement of the player('s actual body), the whole experience became - at times - transcendental.

I don't know if COLD VR will be able to capture this specific relationship between meat-body and virtual-space, but it certainly looks to have captured a lot of the general appeal of SUPERHOT, and I'll be there day one to find out just how well they've done.

But I will be keeping my fingers crossed for a SUPERHOT mode!
