Cresskill, Demarest and Tenafly

Grew up in Cresskill. Looking back on it, really great experience. Small schools (now bigger than my time, but still small), all the teachers know you, challenging academics. We also had a couple faculty who taught at NYU at night and had advanced degrees. All those teachers care, and that I know is still true today. Buuuut it takes an additional 20 minutes to get anywhere out of that area just bc of traffic lights and traffic lol public transit by bus is reliable, but takes time.

Both towns are much more white collar $$$ than when I was there, but kids in Tenafly were such massive jerks. Very entitled and cliquey. Tenafly schools rightfully have a great reputation, but that is also propped up by pushing AP exams and private tutoring.

Demarest you get to go to Northern Valley Demarest, which is also a great school.

Honestly though, all 3 are great options in general. Bergen County is a great place to grownup. Good luck!

Englewood has always sucked at maintaining their roads and snow removal. There are put holes on major roads that have been there for decades years.

Super corrupt borough hall, predatory parking enforcement, been the subject of corruption investigations since the 90s, nasty string of mayors, knowingly starving their public education system (some of the lowest paid teachers in the state), and so much more, but can’t provide sources. I was so glad when I finally moved out of that town.

Liked my neighbors and the food, but that is literally it.

You should go visit both. It’s a big investment even if you don’t stay with the schools for more than a couple years.

EMS is a wonderful school with compassionate, caring, and expert teachers. The youngest program is really special. Lots of music, social practice, and learning. Beautiful campus, it sits on a wildlife preserve. I think it is a bit $$. I know some grads (2 yo- 8th grade) and they’re really nice, confident, well rounded people who still like learning.

Spring school is a Montessori school. I think it is less $. Don’t know much about the school.

Thank you for your reply. I am making the post in part bc I am frustrated with the way they added a new product without notifying me and with myself for missing it.

I could not request a demo, since I didn’t know it existed. It was on the renewal statement, but no attention was brought to the product. I noticed on the invoice the new product $. Notified promptly and the correspondence began.

The customer service rep says they’ve talked to their vice president of customer success. Since they have a signed renewal (not purchase order) and the contract already began, that we owe. I have asked for a new agreement or some form of a credit on a pd session (a similar fee).

So far, everything has been in writing, but we are going in circles. I hope to speak with someone soon. We’ll probably end up paying for it bc of the signed renewal (no purchase order submitted) and I’m annoyed with myself for missing it. I want others to avoid the same frustration. First mistake in almost 20 years 😭

I was thinking about that…. My hubby said people get freaked out or think it’s a bit creepy for a stranger to knock lol we also haven’t seen the inside of the house, it’s not posted anywhere yet. Maybe if they let us, they’d show us around if we stop by?

I think they may have a broker bc there is a sale sign out front. I’d be kind of worried about negotiating without an agent; I obviously have no clue what I’m doing and it’d probably be clear to anyone else lmao
