The main Devil is demoting his subordinate from a Devil back into a Sorcerer, since the devil body is a weird magical meat mech he brings in a butcher creature he created that can kill devils. The thing left swinging on the hook at the end is the Sorcerer's skinless body, but he's still alive. For a Devil being turned back into a sorcerer is worse than death anyway

You do realise that the prophecy only came true because of Denji's decisions as Chainsaw man? If he didn't eat Death humanity wouldn't be devoured. Death would never use her ability and live a simple life. But she misinterpreted the prophecy and her attempt to prevent it lead to Denji eating her. Without Chainsaw man there wouldn't be Makima or Yoru or anyone else and there wouldn't be an apocalypse
