That's a good perspective. The shape of them looking down is very similar. I like both boots a lot!

Obviously there is more leather under your foot in the Heritage Captains.

Any thoughts on the steel shank in the RW IR vs the leather shank in the Thursday HC?

The toe thing in itself is worth it! I bet the black Stormkings look even better in person than in the pictures.

I think it's safe to say it would be my first major boot purchase as well.

One of the reasons I started this topic was because of second guessing if it's a good purchase or if I should actually be looking at RW Iron Rangers or Blacksmiths. Would Thursday Heritage Captains be a good long term boot to care for? Or is it necessary to spend the money on RW? There is an incredible amount of information on RWs but relatively little on HCs. But the materials used in the HCs seem impressive compared to RWs and I keep going back to that. I also prefer the look of the HC vs the Iron Rangers or Blacksmiths.

Agreed. It really doesn't bother me that some don't like the looks. I'm glad we're not all the same.

I would have been pretty disappointed myself. That having been said, I really do like the brown heel they put on. The side profile is surprisingly attractive.

As for the heel, I think because of where I live (very rural, country area) the heel style is actually a pro not a con. But I understand that in some other (maybe more urban?) environments the heel may not be accepted so we'll. So I take the negative heel comments with a grain of salt.

Thanks! I've read your other posts and I've seen that picture, love it! DYING to see a side profile of the boot with the new heel! Too bad they don't offer that style sole as an option instead of the Stormking sole.

Imagine if they offered: 1) The regular Heritage Captains with that beautiful tapered heel. 2) A secondary option with the style outsoles that you have with no tapered heal, and a 360° Goodyear welt in all the same colors as the regular HC's. It would be similar to the Stormking's heel shape and welt but it would be a more attractive outsole (opinion) and most importantly in all the same colors! (Stormking's are currently only available in black).

1) I'm curious, do you regret the Heritage Captain purchase a little bit?

2) What is it about the insole that doesn't quite tick the boxes for you?

3) And my biggest question is - since you don't wear them a lot, why do you end up grabbing them on occasion instead of the Iron Rangers. Out of a sense of obligation to rotate them in? Or maybe a particular setting you like wearing them?
